This letter is to verify that the pool deck repair design for the Hicks residence at 2958
Palos Verdes Drive North is for repair purposes. The existing deck has signs of
significant distress and needs to be repaired or replaced immediately. Incorporated into
this repair work is replacement of the existing retaining wall, which varies from an above
ground elevation of 2 feet to 6 feet. The existing retaining wall is visibly failing.
The existing structure is a safety hazard and in its current condition is very unstable. The
course of action recommended by our office is to build a new structure to replace the
existing, with improvements for safety and functionality, per the owner's request.
