TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Steve Burrell, Interim City Manager
SUBJECT: Bill Hassoldt's request at the 6/24/13 C y Council meeting regarding
moving of utility pole at his property at 15 Portuguese Road.
DATE: June 28, 2013
I have reviewed a number of files that we have on this on -going issue concerning the
placement and or removal of the poles by Edison.
Following City Council direction from the 6/24/13 meeting, I have contacted Edison to
determine what action .they were planning on taking as mentioned by Mr. Hassoldt at the
meeting. I was informed that Edison has been in discussion with the two property owners
for some time in an effort to reach an agreement with them to resolve the issue. Edison s
attorney, Ms. Kisu Lam informed me that she had provided a proposed agreement to Dr.
and Mrs. Nuccion to consider that would allow the repair/replacement of the pole. Ms.
Lam went on to say that Edison will not proceed with project until they receive approval
from both property owners.
It appears that this issue remains at a stalemate.
I spoke with Mr. Hassoldt and scheduled a meeting with him at his property on Monday,
July 8, 2013.

SUBJECT: 15 PORTUGUESE BEND RD.
Due to Dr. Roberts' inquiry regarding the use of the barn structure on
his property, Peggy Minor, Community Association Manager and Craig
Nealis, City Manager, determined that an animal shelter structure was
constructed at 15 Portuguese Bend Road in 1938. Rafael Bernal, LA
County Building Official confirmed that this structure pre -dates any
building permit requirements for barns or other animal structures and
that building permits for animals shelters would have not been required
until mid 1950's.
Per Craig Nealis, the barn structure may remain as is, until such time as
it is enlarged, its use changes or when a new house is constructed on the
property.
