Subject: Chicken keeping regulations
Dear Mr. Kim,
I am 'writing because I have been unable to contact you by phone. The City of Rolling
Hills has received information that you may have recently started keeping chickens on
your property. The City would like to assist you, if this is the case, in ensuring your
compliance with the City's regulations for keeping fowl on your property.
Section 6.32.020 of the Rolling Hills Municipal Code (attached) provides regulations for
keeping fowl. Please note that the code does not restrict the placement of chicken pens
near your own residence, but requires a minimum of 100 feet from all neighboring
residences and at least 25 feet from any property line (other than adjoining a street in
which case you must be 50 feet from the road easement line).
Please review the requirements for locating chicken -keeping pens on your property as
described, and make any adjustments if necessary, to comply with the code. Finally, it
is requested that you call me within two weeks from the date of this letter to describe
the chicken keeping conditions on your property so that the city can verify your
compliance with the code.
Your cooperati • is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions regarding the code,
or if w n as • is r you further, please do not hesitate to call me at (310) 377-1521.
