Date: 03/24/97 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: CRAIG R. NEALIS, CITY MANAGER SUBJECT: CONSIDERATION OF A REQUEST FROM THE WILDLIFE PRESERVATION COMMITTEE TO PURCHASE QUAIL EGGS. DATE: MARCH 24, 1997 BACKGROUND In the FY 1996-97 Budget, an allocation of $500.00 is provided for the purchase of wildlife incubators. The request for these funds was from the Wildlife Preservation Committee. At a recent meeting, the Committee recommended that these funds not be spent for that purpose but, rather, be spent for the acquisition of quail eggs. Wildlife Preservation Committee Member Steve Shultz has adequate incubation facilities to raise these eggs for ultimate release into the community as part of the Committee's wildlife restocking efforts. Two hundred eggs cost approximately $170.00. Committee Member Steve Shultz has been raising quail on his own for quite some time and is anticipating purchasing eggs beyond this $500.00 budgetary allocation request. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that members of the City Council receive and file this report approving the expenditure of these funds for the purchase of quail eggs. Staff will release these funds to Committee Member Steve Shultz following submission of an appropriate documentation demonstrating receipt of these eggs.
