SUBJECT: CONSIDERATION OF LANDSCAPING IN CONJUNCTION WITH
DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS.
DATE: FEBRUARY 3, 1997
BACKGROUND
This item is being presented at the request of the Planning Commission.
During discretionary hearing project, review, landscaping is discussed from the
following perspectives:
• That planting should not obstruct neighbors views.
• Planting may be required to screen tennis courts and/or other structures.
• Landscaping that uses native, drought resistant vegetation is encouraged.
• Existing natural growth may be required to be retained on a specific
project.
From time to time, the issue of incorporating certain types of landscaping into the
site plan development process is discussed at the Planning Commission level.
RECOMMENDATION
It would be recommended for members of the City Council and Planning
Commission to discuss this matter and provide appropriate direction to staff.
