CONSIDERATION OF ADDITIONAL SIGNING ON EASTFIELD DRIVE.
City Manager Nealis stated that Chairwoman Leeuwenburgh, at the meeting of August 16,
had requested Deputy Traffic Engineer Joanne Itagaki to investigate the necessity for
additional curve warning signing on Eastfield Drive in the vicinity of 44 Eastfield Drive. It
is recommended that a W57 sign and Type N marker be installed. Commissioner Welbourn
moved approval of the Staff recommendation. Commissioner Weiner seconded the motion
which carried unanimously.

At the regular Traffic Commission meeting of September 20, 1991, a field trip was
conducted to review the subject request. Attached for review is a Staff Report from Deputy
Traffic Engineer Joanne Itagaki recommending that additional W57 signs and Type N
markers be installed in the vicinity of 71 Saddleback Road.

Subject: ADDITIONAL SIGNING ON SADDLEBACK ROAD
REQUEST
Chairwoman Leeuwenburgh requested that the Traffic Commission review the curve
at 71 Saddleback Road. The Commission reviewed the location during their
September 20, 1991 meeting. The Commission then directed the Deputy Traffic
Engineer to further investigate the location and make any recommendations, if
necessary.
DISCUSSION
Staff has field reviewed the location at 71 Saddleback Road. There is an existing
curve warning sign west of 71 Saddleback Road facing eastbound traffic. An
equestrian trail exists along the easterly of Saddleback Road in the vicinity of 71
Saddleback Road.
Based on the field review, the installation of additional warning signs is
recommended. Figure 1 depicts this recommendation.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that additional W57 signs and Type N markers be installed in the
vicinity of 71 Saddleback Road as shown in Figure 1.

the attached map.

REOUEST
The Traffic Commission requested that staff evaluate the curve warning signing on
Eastfield Drive in the vicinity of 44 Eastfield Drive. The concern expressed by the
Commission was the need for additional signs to direct motorists around the curve.
DISCUSSION
Staff has field reviewed the location at 44 Eastfield Drive. There is an existing curve
warning sign at the location. Figure 1 depicts these conditions.
Based on the field review, the installation of an additional curve warning sign is
recommended. This sign should be placed approximately 100' north of the existing
sign. Figure 1 depicts this recommendation.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that a "W57" Sign and Type N marker be installed as shown in
Figure 1.
