Rolling Hills City Council and staff wish you a wonderful holiday weekend! City Hall will re-open Tuesday, May 28. HOLIDAY TRASH COLLECTION SCHEDULE There will be no trash/green waste collection on Monday, May 27. If your trash is normally collected on Monday, it will be collected on Tuesday and if it is normally collected on Tuesday, it will be collected on Wednesday. NOISE DISTURBANCES As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering a peaceful and harmonious community, the City of Rolling Hills kindly requests your attention to noise disturbances in the community. Excessive or persistent noise can significantly impact the quality of life for our neighbors. The City has received reports about loud noises in certain areas. We ask all residents to be mindful of their activities that generate noise, particularly during early morning and late evening hours. Whether it be construction work, outdoor events, recreational activities, or other sources of noise, your consideration for those around you is greatly appreciated. If you are experiencing reoccurring or overbearing noises disturbing your peace, we encourage you to report such instances to the appropriate authorities with any and all identifying information about the noise such that the City can properly address the issue. Your cooperation enables us to address noise concerns promptly and maintain the tranquility of our neighborhood. UTILITY UNDERGROUNDING ON CREST ROAD UPDATES FOR MAY AND JUNE Construction will resume on Crest Road East near the emergency gate due to additional work necessary for Frontier Communications. U P C O M I N G C I T Y M E E T I N G S City Council Meeting 6/10/24 at 7:00pm Planning Commission Meeting 6/18/24 at 6:30pm - Cancelled Traffic Commission Meeting 5/30/24 at 8:30am LA COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT’S BRUSH CLEARANCE INSPECTIONS BEGIN JUNE 1ST With fire inspections upon us, beginning June 1st, please consider completing the following property work for Zone 1, which extends 30 feet out from the structure. • Remove dead or dry vegetation, leaves and pine needles from your yard, roof, and rain gutters; • Trim trees regularly to keep branches a minimum of 10 feet from other trees, roof and chimney; • Relocate exposed woodpiles outside of Zone 1 unless they are completely contained in a fire-resistant enclosure; • Remove vines and climbing plants from combustible structures (e.g., bougainvillea, wisteria); • Remove vegetation and items around and under decks that could catch fire; • Create separations between trees, shrubs, & items that could catch fire, such as patio furniture, swing sets, etc.; • Irrigation is recommended to maintain vegetation moisture content; Being prepared does not need to happen all at once. Completing one small task at a time will better prepare you and the ones you care about in an emergency. EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS RESOURCES The Palos Verdes Peninsula cities launched a new evacuation tool and website last year. RHCA PATROL NOW IN SERVICE The RHCA has contracted an in-house patrol service. Patrol GSRs go through training specific to Rolling Hills. Understanding the streets, trail system, community, and gate operations in case of an emergency are critical aspects that staff are trained in for proficiency. The patrol acts as a crime deterrent by being visible throughout the city and will only travel on the roads, avoiding private property. The patrol’s duties are to observe/look for possible criminal incidents or other emergencies and report it to the Sheriff or Fire Departments and gates.
