Rolling Hills City Council and staff wish you a wonderful holiday weekend! City Hall will re-open Tuesday, May 28. HOLIDAY TRASH COLLECTION SCHEDULE There will be no trash/green waste collection on Monday, May 27. If your trash is normally collected on Monday, it will be collected on Tuesday and if it is normally collected on Tuesday, it will be collected on Wednesday. RHCA & NEEDS OF SENIORS COMMITTEE WEEKLY WALKING GROUP PILOT PROGRAM THURSDAYS in MAY - 11am on Crest Road Starting May 9 , the RHCA will host a Weekly Walk along Crest Road. They will be meeting at Crest Road / Portuguese Bend Road and walk about 40 minutes (20 minutes out and 20 minutes back). Everyone is encouraged to walk at their own pace as this is an activity to encourage movement, appreciate the natural Rolling Hills environment, and connect with your neighbors. Ground may be uneven and there may be wood chips on the bridle trail. Bring trekking poles if you would like a little extra stability. All ages welcome. No dogs please. The walk will be led by resident Traude Gitter. This is a pilot program during the month of May. If there is interest, the program will continue through the summer and fall (weather permitting). TENNIS & PICKLEBALL PRO-LED ROUND ROBIN SATURDAY, MAY 11 – 8:30am The Courts Club is hosting a round robin for Tennis and Pickleball player with Coaches David, Mario and Everard. Bring your partner or pick one at the courts. Bagels and coffee served for breakfast and tacos for lunch. Plenty of beverages for kids and adults. SECOND BLOCK CAPTAINS MEETING IN 2024 WEDNESDAY, MAY 22 – 10 am Block Captains meet four times a year, on the third Thursdays of February, May, August and November. Meetings are held in the City Council Chambers. Please note, this month they will meet on a Wednesday. The meetings are streamed live on the City’s website. www.rolling-hills.org Many neighborhoods are without a Block Captain, so consider joining and becoming an important part of the community. EASTFIELD DRIVE UTILITY UNDERGROUNDING POTHOLING TO BEGIN MONDAY, MAY 13 Starting Monday May 13, the City’s subcontractor, Hot Line Construction, will begin potholing various locations along Eastfield Drive (between Outrider and Hackamore) as part of the Utility Undergrounding project funded by a FEMA / CalOES Hazard Mitigation Grant. Potholing is required to verify the proposed areas for Southern California Edison’s infrastructure is clear of other existing underground utilities. Please expect delays as one lane of traffic will be closed during excavation. Any questions – please call City Hall at 310-377-1521. UTILITY UNDERGROUNDING ON CREST ROAD UPDATES FOR MAY AND JUNE Construction ended on Crest Road East near the emergency gate exit last week. In June, Southern California Edison is slated to begin their portion of construction which will extend from approximately 93 Crest Road East to roughly the Cal Water property. CODE ENFORCEMENT SERVICES Code enforcement is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm The City’s Code Enforcement Officer is Noah Roque of 4LEAF Inc. The best way to reach Officer Roque is via email: codeenforcement@cityofrh.net. SADDLEBACK ROAD SINKHOLE UPDATE! The RHCA’s engineer and geologist met last week on site to inspect and assess the sinkhole now that the area has dried out a bit. The plan and costs for the road repairs are currently being prepared. A special meeting of the RHCA Board is anticipated to be scheduled next week for consideration of the matter. The RHCA will email residents once calendared. Residents may attend the special meeting or if unavailable, can email Kathryn Bishop at kbishop@rhca.net with comments to the Board.
