Rolling Hills City Council and staff wish you a wonderful holiday weekend! City Hall will re-open Friday, July 5th. FISCAL YEAR 2024/2025 BUDGET ADOPTED At the June 10 City Council meeting, the City Council adopted the next fiscal year’s budget. The final adopted budget book will be available soon and posted on the City Website under Finance Department. In the meantime, the proposed budget which was updated can be found in the June 10 City Council agenda packet which is available on the website at: https://www.rolling- hills.org/government/agenda/index.php NOVEMBER 2024 CITY ELECTIONS UPDATE At the May 13 City Council meeting, two resolutions were approved calling for a consolidation of the City’s municipal election with the statewide general election on Tuesday, November 5. This year, two council seats are on the ballot and currently held by Mayor Pro Tem Jeff Pieper and Councilmember Bea Dieringer. The Nomination period begins on July 15 and ends on August 9. Any resident interested in running should contact City Clerk Christian Horvath to make an appointment starting July 15. Call 310-377-1521 or email cityclerk@cityofrh.net REPUBLIC MOTHER TRUCK REMINDER The City continues to work with Republic Services staff regarding Mother Truck staging locations, service issues, and resident complaints. We ask for your continued patience and understanding while we try to find solutions that will improve quality of service for all. Currently, our local Operations Manager is on leave, so if you are experiencing issues with daily service, please contact City staff so we can relay information to the regional supervisors. If you have questions regarding the once-a- year free roll-off bin or other refuse related services and concerns, please send an email to: Rollinghills@republicservices.com. SAT has distributed this bulletin to the surrounding communities in order to bring this to the attention of homeowners to prevent the group responsible (South American Theft Groups) also known as SATG from Monitoring the activities and patterns of movement of homeowners. Cameras are placed in areas of minimal visibility within a matter of a few minutes to avoid detection by law enforcement or the homeowner. Some Tips to increase situational awareness are: • Remain highly alert regarding any suspicious activity in residential areas and contact Lomita Sheriff Station Detective Bureau directly to report suspicious activity at: (310) 539-1661. • Conduct frequent inspections of your property, including the outdoor areas for any signs of tampering or unusual objects that may blend in. • Enhance your home security measures with motion-activated lights and surveillance systems to deter potential threats. • Report any suspicious items such as hidden cameras or unfamiliar individuals to the Lomita Sheriff Station Detective Bureau at the phone number provided above. UTILITY UNDERGROUNDING ON CREST ROAD EAST - UPDATES FOR SUMMER Construction temporarily ended on Crest Road East near the emergency gate exit last week. In the coming weeks, Southern California Edison will begin their portion of construction which will extend from approximately 85 Crest Road East to roughly the Cal Water property. Initial construction is anticipated to last about two months. After that another two months will be necessary to finalize the undergrounding of electrical/telecommunications wires and then removal of the overhead wires and poles. RHCA OFFICE CLOSED FOR THE 4th OF JULY SADDLEBACK SINKHOLE UPDATE Construction on the sinkhole remediation started May 30th and is expected to last 8 weeks. Please stay clear of this area from May 30th to July 30th. RHCA PROPOSED FILMING FEES HEARING The Board has scheduled a hearing for community member comments on the proposed filming fees policy for Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 8:00pm. Comments may be made at the meeting or submitted in writing. Written comments may be sent to the RHCA manager at Kraig@rhca.net or sent to the RHCA office at #1 Portuguese Bend Road, Rolling Hills, prior to the meeting.
