CITY HALL CLOSED – THURSDAY, JULY 4th
City Hall will be closed on Thursday, July 4th in
observance of the Independence Day Holiday.
Rolling Hills City Council and staff wish you a wonderful
holiday weekend! City Hall will re-open Friday, July 5th.

NOVEMBER 2024 CITY ELECTIONS UPDATE
At the May 13 City Council meeting, two resolutions were
approved calling for a consolidation of the City’s
municipal election with the statewide general election on
Tuesday, November 5. This year, two council seats are on
the ballot and currently held by Mayor Pro Tem Jeff Pieper
and Councilmember Bea Dieringer. The Nomination
period begins on July 15 and ends on August 9. Any
resident interested in running should contact City Clerk

START PREPARING FOR THE NEXT GREEN
WASTE COMMUNAL BIN EVENT AUGUST 2-9
The City’s 7th communal bin event’s selected locations
will rotate to the southern section of Rolling Hills. Staff
has reviewed the sites for accessibility, ease of use, size
of the bins in relation to the street, and size of the
transport truck s with Republic Services and the RHCA.
The four locations are as follows:
1. Quail Ridge North just north of Crest Road West.
2. On the Corner of Crest Road West and Quail Ridge
north adjacent to 1 Crest Road West.
3. On Spur Lane just West of Cinchring Road on Cal
Water’s- Water Tank Property
4. On Portuguese Bend Road across the street from 52
Portuguese Bend on the West side of the street. (Two
Bins will be located here)
Residents can take advantage of the communal bin
program AND order one FREE 40 cubic yard bin for
green waste disposal as a part of a property's annual
assessment fee. To order the free bin email

WEDNESDAY, JULY 17TH - 5pm
The RHCA and Needs of Seniors Committee is hosting
Dinner on the Green at the RHCA & City Hall Lawn. This
month will feature Torrance’s Stonefire Grill and cost $25
per person.

LA COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE ON
JUNE 2024 BRUSH CLEARANCE INSPECTIONS
At the July 8 City Council meeting, LA County Fire
representatives will present an update on the June 2024
brush clearance inspections. The meeting starts at 7pm in
the Council Chambers at City Hall.
DO YOU KNOW YOUR EVACUATION ZONE?
LA County’s Office of Emergency Management has
divided the City of Rolling Hills into three (3) Evacuation
Zones. Portuguese Bend Road (PBR) and Crest Road act
as the dividing “lines” between zones.
• If you live west of PBR & North of Crest – Zone 1
• If you live east of PBR & North of Crest – Zone 2
• If you live on the south side of Crest – Zone 3
In the event of an emergency requiring evacuation –
residents are asked to learn and remember their zone.

CELEBRATE MADRONA MARSH’S 50TH YEAR
The Friends of Madrona Marsh invite all residents to their
50th Anniversary Fundraiser which includes a tasting party
with local restaurants, gift baskets, and auction items. The
event will occur on August 11, 2024 at The Depot, located
at 1250 Cabrillo Avenue, Torrance, CA 90520. Tickets are

RHCA PROPOSED FILMING FEES HEARING
The Board has scheduled a hearing for community
member comments on the proposed filming fees policy
for Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 8:00pm. Comments may be
made at the meeting or submitted in writing. Written
comments may be sent to the RHCA manager at
Kraig@rhca.net or sent to the RHCA office at #1
Portuguese Bend Road, Rolling Hills, prior to the meeting.
