OUTDOOR EMERGENCY SIREN TEST
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6 – 12PM TO 3PM
On October 16, 2024, city vendor HQE tested each siren individually to assess the output at each pole. Please
note that these tests were not the same as a full sound propagation test. This coming Wednesday, HQE will
test the three poles/siren arrays at the same time repeatedly over a 3-hour window while measuring decibel
levels in various areas of the community to ensure the effectiveness of the outdoor warning system. If residents
are home during the process and would like to share their experience with the tests, please email Samantha
Crew at sjcrew@cityofrh.net to share your address and whether the sirens were audible outdoors on your
property. This will help City staff and HQE.
WINTERIZATION PREPAREDNESS
The City is actively promoting proactive winterization to residents to help safeguard their property from
groundwater infiltration during the winter months with information such as:
• Begin filling any ground fissures
• Planning and installing flood, debris, and erosion control measures
prior to the storm season, as it may be too late once the conditions arise
• While these protective installations may not always be aesthetically pleasing,
their effectiveness should take priority over appearance
• Be prepared to personally monitor and maintain these installations during storm periods,
as even minor adjustments can prevent significant failures.
