SOCAL GAS RESTORATION UPDATE
On Feb. 27, SoCal Gas (SCG) provided an update on
efforts to restore natural gas service to Rolling Hills homes
affected by land movement. SCG is implementing a
long-term plan that includes monitoring points and
isolation valves to enhance gas flow control.
Implementation is expected by mid-2025, with service
restoration beginning as conditions allow.
The City is committed to working with both SCG and SCE
to implement effective and safe solutions for restoring
service to the community. Updates will be provided as
progress continues. Read the full update here:

POWER RESTORATION & REQUIRED PERMITS
Southern California Edison has committed to restoring
power to properties that saw utility shut offs in September
2024 due to land movement concerns. Permits are
required for homes that installed alternative power
sources. The City and County are waiving fees until
December 31, 2025 and expediting the process for
impacted residents.
TAKE THE OUTDOOR SIREN TEST SURVEY
On Tuesday, March 4, the City conducted the first official
emergency siren test utilizing parameters determined
during our initial early tests late last year. The City will use
data collected to examin e the output and range of the
sirens to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
To help ensure the test's effectiveness, the
City's vendor, HQE requests residents'
feedback through an online survey. Scan

PROTECT YOUR PROPERTY AND PROTECT
YOUR ROLLING HILLS COMMUNITY
Residents are reminded to maintain the appropriate
clearance between structures and vegetation. The Los
Angeles County Fire Department regulates the first 200
feet from structures in order to establish a firefighting
defensible space. The City Ordinance requires the
removal of dead trees and plants on the remainder of
your property to help keep our community safe from the
threat of wildfires. Residents may wish to consult with their
gardener, an arborist or tree service to assess trees and
shrubs and for constructive clearance methods that
avoid future erosion. If you have questions about
clearance requirements, please call the Fire Department
at 310-377-1584. Links to Educational Videos:

TUMBLEWEED CLEARANCE REMINDERS
Pursuant to Municipal Code 8.30.010, residents are
required to clear dead or alive tumbleweeds from their
properties. During fire and wind events, tumbleweeds
become fire fuel. When clearing any dead vegetation,
remember to keep a fire extinguisher or water hose
nearby in case of sparks from equipment. Tumbleweed
seeds sprout in late April and you can see seedlings along
lawn edges or driveways. After sprouting, the seedlings
have a delicate red/maroon stem/spine and two green
fleshy leaves, opposite each other. PULL THE SEEDLING AT
THIS POINT! If you remove all the seedlings, you will begin
to reduce the “seed bank” hiding in your soil. It could
take three years of this diligent effort, pulling each as it
sprouts, to completely deplete the tumbleweed seed
bank.
