THE OUTDOOR EMERGENCY SIREN SYSTEM

The City’s siren system vendor, HQE, will be hosting an
upcoming webinar designed to address frequently asked
questions from residents regarding the new emergency siren
system. This informative session will provide a detailed
overview of the outdoor siren system’s functionality and
explain how the SAFE Network enhances the City’s overall
emergency communication strategy.
As the City moves closer to placing the siren system into full
operational mode, this webinar will serve as a valuable
opportunity for residents to better understand the purpose
and use of the sirens. It will also clarify how the sirens fit into
the City's multi-layered approach to public safety alerts.
PV PENINSULA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
TOWN HALL MEETINGS FOR MEASURE SOS
All community members are welcome to join the PVPUSD at
two upcoming town hall meetings to discuss project

ARBOR DAY EVENT AT CITY HALL CAMPUS
When: Friday, April 25 – 11am
Arbor Day, is a holiday that celebrates the planting, upkeep,
and preservation of trees. Join the City staff for a tree
planting in celebration of Arbor Day on the City Hall campus.
The tree and care are donated by Bennett Landscape.
PALOS VERDES PENINSULA WILDFIRE
PREPAREDNESS TOWN HALL AND EXPO
When: Saturday, April 26 – 9am to noon
Where: Fred Hesse Jr Community Park
Join Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi and the cities of
Rancho Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills
Estates, and Rolling Hills for a Town Hall to hear about the
lessons learned from the January wildfires and how to
prepare for potential wildfire risks. The Town Hall will feature
presentations by the California Department of Insurance, LA
County Sheriff and Fire Departments and Palos Verdes
Peninsula Unified School District . Residents will also find more
information at the Expo featuring various organizations and
agencies including the Palos Verdes Peninsula Cities. For

PENINSULA CITIES EQUINE FIRST AID EVENT
When: Saturday, May 3 – 9am -12pm
Where: Ernie Howlett Park, 25851 Hawthorne Blvd.
The Peninsula cities are hosting an Equine First Aid Essentials
event on Saturday, May 3rd at Ernie Howlett Park. The
educational program will feature a speaker from Pierce
College sharing lessons learned from recent wildfires and
presentations from veterinarians who specialize in various
areas of equine health. In addition to these sessions, the
event will include equine-focused booths offering valuable
resources on emergency preparedness and microchipping.

SAFELY DISPOSE OF UNUSED MEDICATIONS
DEA NATIONAL TAKE BACK DAY IS APRIL 27
Take this opportunity to clean out your medicine cabinets
and help prevent drug misuse before it starts. According to
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than
100,000 Americans die each year from drug poisonings or
overdose-related deaths. Proper disposal of unused
medication also protects the environment by keeping
harmful substances out of the trash and wastewater systems.
The LA County Sheriff’s Department will host a booth
Saturday, April 26, from 9am to 12 noon at the Palos Verdes
Peninsula Wildfire Town Hall Expo, at Hesse Park in RPV.
During this time, they will available to collect and safely
dispose of unused medications. Many local pharmacies
accept unused medications year-round, including:
Pavilions - 7 Peninsula Center, Rolling Hills Estates
CVS Pharmacy - 901 Silver Spur Road, Rolling Hills Estates
Do your part to keep our community safe and healthy.
POWER RESTORATION & REQUIRED PERMITS
Southern California Edison has committed to restoring
power to properties that saw utility shut offs in September
2024 due to land movement concerns. Permits are required
for homes that installed alternative power sources. The City
and County are waiving fees until December 31, 2025 and
expediting the process for impacted residents.
RHCA GREEN WASTE CHIPPING
When: Monday, April 28
The Rolling Hills Community Association has scheduled a city-
wide chipping service for all Rolling Hills Residents on
Monday, April 28. If you would like to participate in the free
program, refer to the RHCA Newsletter for more information
and important instructions. Please read the instructions
carefully to ensure your eligibility for the chipping program.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR PV DRIVE NORTH RESIDENTS: PV Drive
North properties must place chipping materials at the
curbside for removal, trucks will not come up driveways and
cannot turn around. If you have any questions regarding the
