MAKE SURE THE LOCAL UTILITIES HAVE YOUR
CURRENT CONTACT INFORMATION
Utilities often inform residents of scheduled outages or other
important information through their apps, email or in some
cases, by phone. Recent service interruptions in some
neighborhoods show how important it is to make sure all
utilities have your current contact information to ensure you
are notified if something is happening with your service. If
you have cancelled your home phone, changed numbers,
or switched emails, there is a good chance that Cal Water,
Edison or So Cal Gas may not have your current contact
information.
How can you check? Call their service number or log in on
their website.
Don’t want to share your personal contact info? Download
the utility’s app and sign up for alerts in your area.

screening featuring short, informative videos on Canyon
Management. Enjoy some popcorn, connect with
neighbors, and stay informed. A group discussion will follow

All are welcome. Don’t miss it!
FIRE HAZARD SEVERITY ZONE MAP HEARING
When: Wednesday, May 28 7pm
Where: City Hall Council Chambers
The City Council will consider adopting the updated Fire
Hazard Severity Zone (FHSZ) maps as provided by CAL FIRE
at their May 28 meeting. These maps reflect revised
modeling and data that identify areas of increased wildfire
risk. Adoption of the maps is a key step in aligning local
planning and preparedness efforts with state fire prevention
standards and ensuring residents remain informed about
potential hazards in their area. The maps and more
information can be found on the City website Rolling-Hills.org
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON CLEARANCE
GUIDELINES FOR TREE TRIMMING NEAR LINES
You may have seen Southern California Edison (SCE)
trimming trees. SCE requires a minimum of 12 feet of
clearance between tree branches and power lines in high
fire risk areas. This clearance is maintained by trimming trees
to ens ure the required distance is never threatened. Tall
trees, even if not within 12 feet, can still be considered a
hazard if they are within striking distance of lines or if their
branches or leaves could potentially blow into lines. SCE's
vegetation management practices focus on ensuring a
minimum of 12 feet of clearance between tree branches
and power lines, especially in high fire risk areas.
• Hazard Tree Management: SCE also manages hazard
trees, which include dead or dying trees, dead parts of live
trees , and unstable live trees within striking distance of
power lines.
• Pruning Practices: Pruning is typically performed on the
sides of the tree that could encroach on power lines.
• Additional Safety Measures: SCE may also remove trees
that cannot be safely pruned, top trees that grow directly
under power lines.
RHCA OFFICE CLOSED FOR MEMORIAL DAY
RHCA TRAIL & ROADSIDE WEED ABATEMENT
With our wet winter and Spring on its way, we are likely to
have a lot of wildflowers and weeds come spring and
summer. Spring’s flowers quickly turn into dry grass in the
summer heat. We recommend getting an early start on
weed abatement, so it is not a problem in the summer.
The RHCA does weed abatement on the trails, at the riding
rings and along the roadsides of the major streets (Crest and
Portuguese Bend Road), but it is your responsibility to care for
your own property. RHCA will be putting mulch down on
roadsides and cutting back weeds in the coming weeks. We
would appreciate it if you or your gardener could cut back
along the frontage for your property.
