CL_NWS_250618_D2 CITY COUNCIL James Black, M.D. Bea Dieringer Leah Mirsch Jeff Pieper Patrick Wilson June 18, 2025 Issue No. 25-12 CITY HALL CLOSED – FRIDAY, JULY 4TH City Hall will be closed on Friday, July 4th in observance of the Independence Day Holiday. Rolling Hills City Council and staff wish you a wonderful holiday weekend! City Hall will re-open Monday, July 7th. PLEASE REMEMBER, NO FIREWORKS ARE ALLOWED ON THE PALOS VERDES PENINSULA AT ANY TIME. Fireworks pose a significant threat on the Palos Verdes Peninsula due to the region’s designation as a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone. The dry brush, steep terrain, and frequent winds create conditions where even a single spark can ignite a fast-movin g wildfire. Recent wildfires in the northern part of Los Angeles County have highlighted how quickly fires can spread and the devastating impact they can have on communities. In light of these dangers, all fireworks are illegal on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Their use not only breaks the law and carries legal penalties but also endangers lives, property, and the natural environment. Place green waste into personal containers (max 32 gallons, 60 lbs.) or bundle (max 4 ft long). To find the Rolling Hills 2025 Residential services guide containing this info and more you can visit: https://bit.ly/4mXK4Nq. CONTAINERS: You must provide your own containers which should be no larger than 32 Gallons and not weigh more than 60lbs. Please note: containers obtained through Republic services are not acceptable for green waste, these containers are 64 gallons and when full are too large or too heavy for drivers to lift and you may receive a red tag. RED TAGS: A red tag on containers or materials indicates that items were prepared incorrectly or overfilled. If you receive a red tag, please check the tag for info on how to resolve the issue prior to your next collection day. MANURE: Do not mix green waste with manure. The scooter drivers and mother truck will not be able to collect your green waste if manure is included. For manure services, contact Isabel Guerrero at: 310-748- 3947 or email Iguerrero@republicservices.com. Manure services consist of a 2-yard bin placed at your designated collection location. A special scout service comes to empty the bin dependent on your personal needs. Manure services are contracted privately by residents through Republic Services. FREE 40 CY GREENWASTE ROLL OFF BIN: For larger quantities of green waste, each residence may request one 40 cy bin per calendar year, free of charge.
