If you were unable to attend, a recording of the event is available via YouTube at: https://bit.ly/4dIhnji JUNE IS PET PREPAREDNESS MONTH Being prepared helps ensure the safety and well-being of your pets when every second counts. Here Are some helpful tips for pet preparedness: Create a pet emergency kit: Include food, water, medications, leash, carrier, waste bags, and comfort items like a blanket or toy. Make sure your pet has: ID tags and a microchip with up - to-date contact information in case you get separated. Include your pets in your evacuation plan: identify pet- friendly shelters or hotels ahead of time and practice loading them into carriers or vehicles. Keep copies of important pet documents: such as vaccination records, medical history, and a recent photo in your emergency kit. It’s a good idea to scan or photograph these documents and email them to yourself, so you can easily access them from any device if needed. KEEP STORM DRAINS CLEAR AND PROTECT LOCAL WATERWAYS Here are some tips for residents to keep storm drains clear and help protect our lo cal waterways: Never dump trash, oil, paint, or chemicals into storm drains as they flow directly into the ocean and harm marine life. Sweep up leaves and yard waste instead of blowing them into the street or gutter. Secure your trash and recycling bins to prevent loose items from being carried away by wind or rain. Pick up pet waste and dispose of it properly to prevent bacteria from entering the storm drain system. Avoid overwatering your lawn, which can carry fertilizers and pesticides into the storm drains. By following these simple steps, residents can help reduce pollution, prevent flooding, and keep our stormwater systems working properly.
