PENINSULA PUBLIC SAFETY & CONTRACT LAW
Quarterly, the four Peninsula cities come together as the
Peninsula Public Safety Committee. The three cities
contracting with the LA County Sheriff Department (LASD)
also meet as the Regional Contract Law Committee. The
Committees receive reports from LA County Fire /
McCormick and the LASD, as well as discuss shared
concerns, strategies, and efforts. Their next meeting will
be on Thursday, November 13, 2025 via zoom. Agendas
will be posted on the City Website under Residents/Public
Safety and include the zoom links.
BE READY FOR WIND AND RAIN SEASON
As we move into November, Southern California often
experiences the first winter storms and strong Santa Ana
winds. Now is the perfect time to check your home and
property for weather readiness:
• Secure outdoor items such as patio furniture, umbrellas,
and holiday decorations that could become
windborne hazards.
• Clear gutters, drains, and culverts to prevent flooding
and erosion during the first heavy rains.
• Inspect trees and trim weak branches, especially near
homes or power lines.
• Prepare for possible power outages by charging
devices, stocking flashlights and batteries, and keeping
extra water and nonperishable food on hand.
• Stay informed by signing up for emergency alerts at
Alert SouthBay.
Preparedness happens one step at a time - a little effort
now can help prevent damage later.
