Attached please find a proposal that was submitted by Erosion Control Specialists to
reapply plastic and sandbags to the slide mass adjacent to Poppy Trail Road. Please
review this proposal and confirm that the City should continue application of the
plastic and sandbags in the manner that they are currently deployed or provide any
other professional recommendation that is appropriate.

Dear Craig:
These are our recommendations for work needed on the poppy trail project,
There is quite a bit of sun damage to the existing plastic which is causing it to rip and fall apart. The plastic
covering the lower half of the slide has been there for approximately 10 months and the upper portion has
been there approx. 8 months. This is well over what the expected life -span of the plastic is. It is, on an
average, expected to keep its integrity for a period of about 6 months.
The plastic needs to be removed and replaced to keep sufficient coverage of the slide. In it's current state
there is a large chance that the plastic coverage will be ineffective.
We feel that the most effective and economical way to approach this is to continue performing any
necessary repairs to the plastic right away. Then just before the rainy seasons starts, doing a full remove
and replace on the slide. This way we can have fresh materials in place for the upcoming rainy season.
Also we are currently looking for new and different materials to address the reflective problem that we
seem to be having with the plastic.
