Dear Dr. and Mrs. Stone,
At its meeting of October 12, 2009, the City Council approved your request for a
new driveway according to the plans submitted to the City's Traffic Commission.
Per the conditions set forth in the City's September 24, 2009 letter to you (attached),
the City authorizes the construction of the driveway approach. Grading is not
permitted with this approval; if there is any grading associated with the work,
please advise the City. Additional approval of the landscaping and/or driveway
may also be required from the Rolling Hills Community Association. It is
recommended that you contact them before construction commences.

This is to inform you that at the September 24, 2009 Traffic Commission meeting, the
Commission reviewed your request for a new driveway at the above address. The City's
Traffic Commission and Traffic Engineer's scope of review is of the driveway approach,
visibility of oncoming traffic and compliance with City's zoning regulations. Based on
this review, the Traffic Commission recommends approval of the new driveway approach
subject to the following conditions:
1. Rolling Hills Community Association review and approval is required.
2. The new driveway apron shall be in compliance with the submitted plan, dated
8/25/09.
3. The first•20-feet of the driveway apron shall have a maximum slope of 7%.
4. The driveway apron shall be roughened.
5. There shall be no grading for the driveway, other than removal of the existing
concrete.
6. The existing driveway approach shall be closed off, except that a not to exceed 5-
foot walkway may be constructed to your entrance, and the remainder of the existing
driveway must be landscaped.
Please be advised that this approval is only for the new "driveway approach" and NOT
for the landscaping of the front of the house. Please submit a separate plan to RHCA and
City Planning Department for landscaping review and approval With the appropriate
calculations of the size of the driveway.
