NOTICE OF A FIELD VISIT AND NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING
BEFORE THE PLANNING COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS, CALIFORNIA
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the Planning Commission of the City of Rolling Hills will
hold a Public Hearing at the subject property of 9 Johns Canyon Road at 7:30 AM on Tuesday„
August 21, 2018. The public hearing will be continued to that same evening, August 21, 2018 at 6:30
PM, in the City Hall Administration Building, 2 Portuguese Bend Road, Rolling Hills, CA for the
purpose of receiving public input regarding the following Zoning Case:
ZONING CASE NO. 939, Request for Variance to authorize approximately 350 square
foot encroachment of a proposed conversion to a Mixed -Use Structure in the front yard
setback, and an increase in disturbance on a lot that already exceeds the maximum
allowable disturbance of 40%.
A request for a Site Plan Review to construct a new approximately 385 square foot
residential addition and legalize an approximately 220 square foot as -built residential
addition; a Conditional Use Permit to convert an existing 1,560 square foot stable to a
mixed -use structure with a recreation room and storage space; and a Variance for an
approximately 25 linear foot encroachment into the front yard setback, with approximately
330 square feet of the proposed residential addition in the encroachment was noticed,
discussed and considered by the Planning Commision at their regular evening meeting on
July 17, 2018. The subject property is located at 9 Johns Canyon Road (Lot 170-A-1-MS)
Rolling Hills, CA, (David Stone).
The project has been determined to be categorically exempt (Class 3) pursuant to Section 15303 of the
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines.
APPLICATIONS REQUIRED BY MUNICIPAL CODE: Site Plan Review — Chapter 17.46,
Conditional Use Permit — Chapter 17.42, and Variance — Chapter 17.38
Any person is welcome to review the subject application and plans prior to the public hearing at the
City Hall Administration Building located at 2 Portuguese Bend Road, Rolling Hills, CA. We welcome
your input. You may provide your comments in writing to the Planning Department prior to the
meeting or come to the meeting and address the Planning Commission on this project.
