Thank you for meeting with me and Wayne Chatman, Los Angeles County Building
inspector, on Friday, April 9, 2010 on your property to show and explain to us the
extent of your remodel and re -landscaping. Because permits are necessary for the
work you have completed and additional requirements that will need to be met,
please cease all construction and repair work on your property. As we discussed at
the meeting the following information must be submitted to the City:
1. A plot plan showing the property lines, easement lines and setback lines,
and the footprint of the residence.
2. On the plot plan show the proposed surface water drain lines (including
those that have been already installed) and the proposed dissipater. Mark
on the plan the direction of drainage.
3. On the plot plan outline the area of the enclosed breezeway and indicate
how big it is. Show the wall in front of the enclosed breezeway, including
the height and length.
Once the City staff reviews and approves the "as built" construction you will be
required to obtain building permits from the Los Angeles County Building and
Safety Department for the following work:
• The enclosed breezeway
• Electrical and plumbing work as explained by Mr. Chatman
• Drainage and grading, depending on the extent of the work
• Spark arresters on your chimneys
• Undergrounding of the utility lines to your residence
I am enclosing informational flyers regarding lighting and undergrounding of utility
lines requirements in the City.

The building inspector will arrange for the County drainage engineer, Lisa Neslund,
to visit your property in a few days. She will go over with you the grading and
drainage requirements.
Also, some of the improvements, including the door, light fixtures on your residence
and the proposed fencing require review and approval by the Rolling Hills
Community Association, (RHCA). Please contact them for their requirements at 310
544-6222.
Should the RHCA approve thelight fixtures, you will be required to water proof the
fixtures.
As was mentioned during the meeting, you may continue removing the trees and ivy
from your property. However, please be advised that you may be required to install
erosion control measures to prevent the slopes from erosion.
It will be necessary that you submit the required plans and information by May 5,
2010 to avoid future code enforcement action.
If you have any questions or require additional information please do not hesitate to
call me at 310 377-1521.
Sincerely
olanta Schwartz
