Judy, I spoke to Kevin about another matter and he brought up the short/skinny pole on your
property. Apparently Edison can't remove this pole. The guy wires on that pole are required for
the stability of the pole across the street.
I also spoke to Wayne, the building inspector. He went to your property in May and left a note
that he missed you and could not make an inspection. If your job is complete, or if you need an
inspection for a certain item, please call him in the morning at 310 534-3760. Also, you need
additional permit for the electrical panel upgrade and undergrounding of utility lines.
According to Wayne you only pulled electrical permits for light switches and outlets in the
house. Please call Wayne.

We have completed work on the pernvts noted below, but request that you extend the permits due to
delays in completing our utilities undergrounding as required by the City of Rolling Hills.
Southern California Edison has designed the undergrounding, but the drawings are in Edison's
approval loop at this time. After approval, I will have to arrange for an Edison easement on a
neighboring property in order for Edison to cross Caballeros Road to my property. As soon as the
easement can be arranged and recorded, I will pull a permit for the undergrounding and will
itntnediately proceed with the work. However, I anticipate that this may take another one to two
months.

Mrs. Jenkins,
The above attachment has the pole information on it as my records show that this
is in fact a SCE pole. As I indicated, the pole was set in 1953.
The guy on the top of the pole belongs to SCE and I am still trying to verify the
lower guy, but I will have my inspector come out and remove it, as it is within my
height on the pole.
As far as removing the pole, SCE will have to answer or resolve that issue.

Hello Yolanta & Katherine:
Update from my last e-mail.
1. Garage door is installed
2. Survey of front setback is complete (Bolton Engr). Have many questions that I will come
in and review with Yolanta.
3. Driveway is being graded for pavers
4. Undergrounding is underway, trench dug, Edison approved the trench & conduit today.
5. The issue with the now -defunct pole that housed the Verizon line has not been resolved.
Edison says it is not their pole. Verizon says that the pole was installed in 1953 and must
belong to Edison. We are working on this issue and, if necessary, we will take responsibility
for taking the pole down. The real issue is the two Guy wires from this pole to the Edison pole
across the street. Verizon says that the lower Guy wire is theirs and they will remove. I'm
working with Edison to remove the Guy wire that appears to be theirs. This is a sticky issue.
6. Unfortunate Emergency occurrence: The Simich undergrounding team put a pin hole in
4" CAL Water pipe resulting in water outage @ approx 1 pm. CAL Water responded within 20
minutes and is now completing fixes. Unfortunately, all homes from Maverick down have
been impacted with no water since about 3 pm to accommodate the CAL water fix.

Just wanted to update you on our progress:
1. The garage door is being installed today
2. The undergrounding project is scheduled with Simich Construction to begin on July 18th
3. The driveway will be completed by Simich Construction in concert with the
undergrounding
4. I am in touch with both Cox Cable and Verizon regarding undergrounding their services
and removing the service pole (Verizon only).
5. The trellis project is on hold due to a requirement for a "minor variance. Bolton
engineering will be here tomorrow (7/7) to set front setback posts. When we see the results,
then we will determine how & whether we can proceed.
6. I requested a permit extension with Wayne Chapman on 4/27. That extension has been
granted.

As you know, we have recently completed a small addition to our residence. In order to get
our Final inspection sign -off for the addition, the City of Rolling Hills requires that, first, we
underground our utilities.
After much time with Edison planners, we have a design that we believe is minimally invasive
to both of our properties. However, in order to proceed with undergrounding, we must first
request that you allow Edison an easement from the utility pole that is on your property
directly out to the middle of Caballeros Road. I believe that this easement will be only about
2 feet wide by 4 feet deep and will accommodate the plastic pipe (riser) that comes down the
utility pole and goes underground. The expense of recording the easement will be mine. I
have taken the liberty of enclosing the Edison drawing for you to review.
According to the Edison planner, the Edison real estate legal group will prepare the
easement documents and send them directly to you.
The two other utilities, Cox & Verizon, do not require easements.

We are writing you because, for the second time in less than six months, you
have had water drainage issues on your property causing damage to our
property.
As you .indicated to Dave Wielandt, on or about Tuesday evening August 9th, a
relative visiting your home turned on a hose in your orchard that ran all night.
The resulting water crossed the access road, inundated the hill above our
driveway and surrounding wall, and flooded our new driveway just completed
on August',5th. Our new drainage system saved much of the driveway, but the
water has seriously impacted an area of about 1/4 of the remainder of the
driveway and has discolored the wall. As of Friday August 12th, limestone
deposits/hard water stains appeared on the surface of the pavers.
Our contractor, John Simich Construction, has sent a supervisor to inspect the
driveway and has asked that we 1) dry it out thoroughly for one week, 2) not
drive or park on that area, and after one week, they will assess any damage to
the driveway base and the pavers and provide us an estimate of the cost to
correct any damage. We will provide you this estimate as soon as we receive it,
as we would like the issue corrected as soon as possible.
We enclose pictures from the morning of_August loth and the morning of
August 12th depicting the water problem. Please feel free to come down and
view the area for yourself.
