A copy_of'a.letter ,to California Federal Savings, :authorizing•release:of the balance is enclosed. Very truly ' .yours , June C . Cunningham Deputy City Clerk October 14, 1974 Planning Committee City of Rolling Hills Rolling Hills; California Gentlemen; I am submitting this letter to again voice my support for my neighbor's front yard variance request. I feel that all my neighbors have the right to develop their property as long as their use does not violate the rural atmosphere,--or-the privacy of their neighbors. I have reviewed the plans, checked the stakes showing the limits of the court, and physically walked all of Hummingbird Lane and Eastfield Dr., and I still feel that the tennis court as proposed will have no negitive effect on the community. Mrs. Failing states that she has gained the approval of The Rolling Hills Community Association, The Rolling Hills Architectur- al Committee, and The Rolling Hills City Landscape Committee. I - would think that the only decision which is before the Planning Committee is the front yard variance to Hummingbird Lane. Hummingbird Lane will only:serve a maximum of three lots, and as those people involved have not expressed an objection', it is hard for me to under- stand the resistance to.Mrs. Failings request. We will not be in attendance at your meeting on tuesday night, but we do want to thank you in advance for your reconsideration of this variance request, and hope that you will vote favorably on this matter. Respectfully submitted Ma Hubert G. Toll, onnie D. Toll September 30,.1974 Mrs. Joyce Failing 1 Hummingbird Lane Rolling :Hills, ,California 90274 Dear Mrs. Failing, The Planning Commission will make a..field trip to. the site of ,the proposed location of a tennis court on your property on Monday, October 7, 1974;at. 7:45 A.M. . Please have the constructionsite staked, with a helium balloonshowingthe highest point .of the. proposed construction. Very ruly : yours,.., June Cunningham._ Secretary ,• . Rolling'Hills.Planning-.Commission Sept, 1S, 197h TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE PLANNING. COMMISSION• OF THE CITY 'OF ROLLING HILLS,•CALIFORNIA . Defore` I initiate an appeal proceedure, I would 'like . to ask if.there is any possible way for you to reconsider - my situation. I know your jobs with the Planning Commission. are thankless z1 best, and I•am very sorry about the way the meeting went the other; night, • I know the misunderstandings on my part and the part of most of my neighbors were due to ignorance of the way the Association and the City works independently. I sincerely didn't know you investigated the whole thing from the beginning. .That because the Archi, techtual Committee had approved the plans, and the Board of Directors had approved, after an onsite invest-. igation, with the stipulation that I use colored fencing and -screen-the court from Eastfield with appropiate plantings, ( I had the •Begonia Farm draw up a landscape plan, which I then took to the Landscape Committee, and they approved.) I wrongly assumed that your Commission merely reviewed what had.happened in other meetings. When I asked how soon you could schedule to come up to my pronerty, 1 misunderstood Dr. Pernell as saying,"After' next months meeting." ( I found out this morning that was not what he said.).and all I could think of was this would put construction up 2.or. 3 months and right into the rainy season, which meant everything would be stopped until next spring. There was so much conversation going on all around me, T think 1 missed a lot of the meeting, se I asked for a 'Vote thinking it just meant I went on to Council. In eonci•usion 1 would like to add that I am raising two • boys .by 'myself and I moved. to Rollin; Hills five years ago to provido them with•a way of Life that would allow them to • porsue the tliingB that intorest •i.hem, and keep them at home With their friends, and now that they have outgrown their horses and are very much into Tennis, the once a week schedule at the main gate Courts is hardly enough to maintain the level -of proficiency that they desire, A1y .family and I: want .this court very badly, and I would , hate.to see it not materilize'because of'myignoranee and • misinformn.tion, so 1 am humbly. asking -you to reconsiderliand conduct an onsito investigation sometime before your next meeting.
