Rolling Hills City Council
City Hall
2 Portuguese Bend Road
Rolling Hills, California
Gentlemen:
In a meeting held April 24, 1972 by the Planning Commission of Rolling
Hills, they denied a variance requesting kitchen facilities in a small
house on my property.
I was unable to attend this meeting, but feel certain that if all the
facts had been presented, I would have received the Commission's approval.
I am building a 7,450 square foot home on 5 acres of property. The home
is designed for my family and guests. The small house is less than 1/8
this size, but is architecturally compatible with the main building.
I received a permit from the City of Rolling Hills and moved this home
to the back of the property, located some distance from the main house,
with the intention of using it for servants' quarters not guests.
The property will be completely landscaped and will require a full-time
caretaker, the home a full-time. housekeeper.
May I call the Council's attention that there are a number of homes in
Rolling Hills that have separate housing with cooking facilities for the
use of servants.
I respectfully request the Council to grant this variance under the cir-
cumstances.
Sincerely,
Vernon R. Turcotte
