Plan is recommended for approval from a geotechnical standpoint, subject to the following conditions.
1. Show/Note the 10 horizontal feet from the end of geogrid material as "Restricted Use Area(s)" for all areas with geogrid(s)
on grading plan, as recommended by the soils engineer.
2. Rough grading must be approved by a final geotechnical report. An As -Built Geologic Map must be included in the final
geology report. In accordance with Section J105.12 of the County of Los Angeles Building Code, provide a final report
statement that verifies work was done in accordance with report recommendations and Code provisions. The final
report(s) must be submitted to the Geotechnical and Materials Engineering Division for review and approval.
3. In accordance with Section J105.12 of the County of Los Angeles Building Code, final reports on rough grading, which
address the completed grading, shall contain a finding regarding the safety of the completed aradina and any proposed
structures against hazard from future landsliding, settlement, or slippage and a finding regarding the effect that the
completed aradina will have on the geologic stability of property outside of the building site. The finding must be
substantiated by appropriate data and analysis.
NOTE(S) TO THE PLAN CHECKER/BUILDING AND SAFETY ENGINEER:
A. ONLY THE FOUNDATION RECOMMENDATIONS DEPICTED ON THE PLANS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR APPROVAL.
PER THE SOILS ENGINEER:

A.
ONSITE SOILS HAVE A MEDIUM TO HIGH EXPANSION POTENTIAL AND ARE CORROSIVE TO FERROUS METALS.
PROPOSED FOUNDATIONS AND SITE IMPROVEMENTS LOCATED WITHIN TEN FEET OF A TOPOF SLOPE OR
LOCATED ON A SLOPE SHALL INCORPORATE A CREEP VALUE OF 1,000 POUNDS PER FOOT OF DEPTH FOR THE
UPPER THREE FEET OF EARTH MATERIAL. WHERE CREEP FORCES ARE FOUND PASSIVE PRESSURE SHALL BE
IGNORED TO THE DEPTH OF THE CREEP ZONE.
THE PROPOSED UNRESTRAINED RETAINING WALLS WITH LEVEL AND 2:1 (H:V) BACKSLOPES SHALL BE
DESIGNED FOR EQUIVALENT FLUID PRESSURES (EFP) OF 44.2 AND 103.7 PCF, RESPECTIVELY.
PROPOSED DRILLED CAISSONS SHALL BE AT LEAST 24 INCHES IN DIAMETER AND EMBEDDED AT MINIMUM OF
FIVE FEET INTO COMPETENT BEDROCK.
POOL WALLS SHALL BE DESIGNED TO SUPPORT THE ADJACENT BACKFILL SOIL WHEN THE POOL AND SPA IS
EMPTY. THE ACTIVE EARTH PRESSURE MAY BE CALCULATED AS AN EFP OF 100 PCF, PLUS THE LATERAL
PRESSURE DUE TO ANY SUPERIMPOSED SURCHARGE WHEN THE SPA IS EMPTY
