The proposed grading is shown on a Plan, dated August 23, 1984, by. George Sweeney A.I.A. Architect. This facility previously conducted a geotechnical investigationof the subject site, and the following report was issued: "Geotechnical Investigation, Proposed .Lot Split and Single Family Residence, Tentative Tract No. 37810, Lot 2, 38 Crest Road East, Rolling Hills, California," for Mr. Manny David (Project Ref. 1811(a)-92), dated February 8, 1980. As shown on the Grading Plan, a fill slope will be placed easterly and below the house pad. It will be constructed to 2:1 (horizontal to vertical) steep and about 65 feet high. A drainage terrace will be placed at about mid - height of the slope. • • Project Ref. 3134-42 • September 17, 1984 Our calculations have shown that if this fill slope is made up of fill soils with the following shear strength, or equivalent, it should have an adequate factor -of - safety of 1.50. Cohesion = 300 psf Angle of Internal Friction = 26° Our laboratory tests have shown that the on -site soils, when compacted to 93% relative compaction, should exhibit the above required shear strength. Grading specifications for the construction of this fill slope will be included in a detailed geotechnical report. It is our opinion that, with proper drainage and compaction, the proposed fill slope should render a safe site for the proposed construction. It should be noted that the existing relatively steep side canyon slopes will be supported by this fill slope which further improves the stability of the site.
