The PLANNING COMMISSION of the City of Rolling Hills will conduct a field
visit on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2007 at 5:00 PM to view a revised project at 9
Caballeros Road in the following zoning case:
ZONING CASE NO. 737. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Scarboro, 9 Caballeros Road
(Lot 27-SF), Rolling Hills, CA. Request for a Variance to permit
construction of an addition, which would encroach into the front and side
setbacks at an existing single family residence.
The Planning Commission held a public hearing on subject zoning case on
September 18, 2007, at which time the Commissioners heard a detailed
presentation of the proposal. The purpose of the field trip is to familiarize the
members of the Planning Commission and interested parties with the location,
topography, size and extent of the proposed project.
Any person is welcome to attend this field trip and provide public testimony.
However, due to time constraint during the field visit, extensive testimony and
comments will be considered at the regular Planning Commission public hearing
described below. We urge you to review the application, plans and minutes of
the previous meeting on subject application prior to the site visit. These and
other pertinent documents are available at the City Hall Administration Building
located at 2 Portuguese Bend Road, Rolling Hills, CA.
The Planning Commission will continue to discuss and deliberate this case at their
regular meeting, which will be held on the same night as the field trip, on Tuesday,
October 16, 2007, beginning at 6:30 PM in the Cite! Hall Council Chambers.

SUBJECT: ZONING CASE NO. 737. Request for a Variance to permit construction of

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Scarboro:
The Planning Commission scheduled a field trip to your property to view a silhouette of
the proposed project on OCTOBER 16. 2007 at 5:00 PM. The Planning Commission
also requested elevation plans from all sides of the residence and information on
whether the highest ridgeline is measured from the finished floor or the finished grade,
and the height of the existing residence.
If you have plans for any landscaping of the front of the property including possibly
decorative material for the driveway or eliminating part of the impervious surface of the
driveway and replacing it with a pervious surface, please make this information available
to the Commission. This will aid in your case.
The owner and/or representative must be present at the field trip to answer any
questions regarding the proposal.
• A full-size silhouette in conformance with the attached
guidelines must be prepared for ALL PROPOSED
STRUCTURES of the project showing the footprints,
roof ridges, entryways, and covered or trellis like
porches;
• Show the height of the finished floor of the proposed
addition;
• Stake/tape the front 50-foot setback line and the front
roadway easement line;
• Stake/tape the side property line, setback line and the
side easement line in the vicinity of the project;
• Stake any projections beyond the footprint of the
proposed structure (Le.- porches and eaves) in a
different color flags.

After the field trip, the next regular meeting of the Planning Commission will take place
on the same day, Tuesday. October 16. 2007. at 6:30 PM at City Hall, at which time the
Commission will further discuss and deliberate your proposal.
