2, Allow PVSD to use the 32 acres, CorrespondencePalos Writes 2111not Ethtrirt Administration Center 38 Crest Road Rolling Hills, California October 24, 1960 Assistant Superintendent City Council City of Rolling Hills California Attention: Capt. Gilbert B. Myers Reference: Variance and Conditional Use Permit for the Old College Site at 38 Crest Road, Rolling Hills Gentlemen: FRontier 7-4889 Due to the successful unification election, the Board of Trustees is desirous of progressing with acquisition of the above mentioned site for school purposes. Under Section 6.01 of Ordinance No. 33, the Board of Trustees requests a Variance and Conditional Use permit for the 32+ acres of the old Palos Verdes college site for a new elementary school to be placed on the southern section of subject site, and administration offices and maintenance building on the north section of the site at the present college building location. Under Section 6.03 of Ordinance No. 33, a school is needed for the Rolling Hills City area and the subject property seems to be best fitted for such use. Due to the central location, the Board of Trustees feels that the old college site is ideal for the central offices of the new unified district. The terrain lends itself well to the placing of buildings in order to keep it a pleas- ing site. The architect has endeavored to place the buildings so that neighbors will be affected as little as possible. Traffic is being routed so that patrons of the district offices and the school will not traverse Rolling Hills City streets but wi11 use a district provided access road paralleling Crest Road. The Planning Commission has seen the proposed plans and every attempt will be made to keep them informed as the planning progresses. Being,a public body, the Board of Trustees requests a waiver of any variance filing fees for the above mentioned project. It also states that it is a plaintiff in an action of eminent domain to acquire the above premises. Attached is a list of the homeowners within the 500 foot limit of the proposed site. s very truly, M2,,J Raym d E. Denlay Assistant Superintendent RED:jnb Encl (1)
