CRUZ, CITY MANAGER SUBJECT: CONSIDERATION OF DRIVEWAYS PROPOSED BY THE PROPERTY OWNER OF 40 EASTFIELD DRIVE TO SERVE 40 AND 42 EASTFIELD DRIVE. ATTACHMENT: APPLICANT'S LETTER OF REQUEST ENGINEER'S LETTER REQUEST AND BACKGROUND 1. The applicant, Mr. Nicholas Tonsich, requests consideration of two new driveways that would serve his and adjacent property, (40 and 42 Eastfield Drive). The proposed driveway apron serving 40 Eastfield would be 32-feet wide and the proposed driveway apron serving 42 Eastfield Drive would be 33-feet wide. A planter area of between 6-9 feet wide would separate the driveways. The driveways width would vary from 15-20 feet. This proposal is the same as the one that the City Council reviewed in March 2013. The Traffic Commission in January 2012 reviewed and recommended approval of the originally submitted two driveway configuration, which was substantially the same; except for the width of the aprons (24'), and located two feet northwest of currently proposed driveways. At the end of this staff report is a summary of previous actions by the Traffic Commission, Planning Commission and City Council. 2. Currently 40 and 42 Eastfield share a common driveway apron and a short distance of the driveway itself, before it divides into two driveways, each serving a separate property. The current single apron and portion of the driveway are located on an adjacent property at 38 Eastfield Drive. Access to 38 Eastfield Drive is taken through a separate driveway located further northwest from the driveway apron to 40 and 42 Eastfield. 40 Eastfield Drive -1-
