Currently, this home is fed by an overhead line from a SCE pole on the property to the East This would be the ideal pole for an underground feed. This would require an easement from the homeowner of said lot. It is my understanding that they will not grant the easement. In this case, SCE can not underground the service to 1 Southfield from this pole. The pole to the South of said property has no transformer or service voltage. It is a primary dip pole, meaning high voltage lines dip to an underground line. SCE can not have a transformer on this pole due to the high voltage dip. There is an underground structure on 1 Southfield, but it only contains high voltage lines from the dip pole to the South, and is not suitable for a transformer to be installed. There is a vault on Crest Rd East that contains a transformer with service voltage available. To access this source, it would require the homeowner to dig a trench from their panel to this vault. Since this vault is on another property, an easement would be required. It would also require trenching across Crest Road East. While this is feasible, there would be a cost to the homeowner. The majority of the cost would be for digging the trench and laying the conduit. I can not estimate this cost. The last option would be to set a new pole on the customer's property and take the underground service from this pole. The entire cost for this would be the customer's responsibility. If you have any additional questions, please contact me. However, I have since learned that the vault is merely a junction for the Edison high voltage lines and contains no electrical service. Now I find that it is necessary to obtain a grant deed from my neighbors at 1 Flying Mane Road to under ground from their property. The owners however are not interested in granting my request at this time. Any other means of under grounding would be a huge financial burden. I am now faced with many health issues for my husband. Having to deal with the additional stress and financial costs of this under grounding is more that I had bargained for. I ask that you please wave this requirement for the electrical under grounding. Thanking you in advance for your consideration. Sincerely, r' s Carla J. Routt • • 1 Flying Mane Road Rolling Hills, CA 90274 May 9, 2006 Carla Routt 1 Southfield Drive Rolling Hills. May 8, 2006 pm-pq MAY - ?UU6 CITY- (..•;: H•: LS By Carla Routt 1 Southfield Dr, Rolling Hills, 90274 Dear Carla, Thank you for contacting SCE to help in your service needs. Here are the results of my investigation regarding the under grounding of your electrical service. The SCE manhole located, M5060120, located directly north of your driveway, does not contain any facilities in which your electrical service may tap into. This structure serves only as a junction for our high voltage lines. Your current service comes from a pole to the East of your property. It is an overhead service. My design for an underground service would be to underground your service from this pole. The owner of this property would be required to grant an easement to SCE to locate an underground duct from the pole, to the centerline of Southfield, where it would enter your property. If they do not grant the easement, then SCE will not underground your service. Please be advised, that while this is the closest facility to feed your home, others may exist. It is SCE's design goal to use the nearest and most economical route, for both the customer and SCE. In your situation, no SCE facilities exist on your property from which an underground service may tap into. Any other route would still require an easement from any neighbor, on whose property our facilities may exist. The cost to trench to a possible alternative location would be borne by you. If you have any additional questions, please call me. I am here to help. Sincerely, Larry Fay Planner /' 310 783 -9332 505 n i:1,i A, e•:,::e t-c,r,•linci'.
