At your invitation, Mrs. Hedges and I reviewed the preliminary drawings that pertain to variance requests at 58 Eastfield Drive. We are very concerned that the scope of the proposal would compromise our privacy. Privacy and the trees were prime motivating factors in our decision to purchase our home here 20 years ago. Privacy was considered to be a paramount requirement by prospective buyers according to the Palos Verdes Corporation ( ROLLING HILLS - THE EARLY YEARS - page 38 ). We feel the setback requirements are to protect us and that they were instituted for good reason. We ask that the commission not grant the variances. We have other concerns about extensive grading of one acre directly above our property and any potential slope instability it might cause.
