4/19/1994MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS, CALIFORNIA APRIL 19, 1994 CALL TO ORDER An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Rolling Hills was called to order by Mayor Murdock at 7:35 p.m on Tuesday, April 19, 1994, in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 2 Portuguese Bend Road, Rolling Hills, California. ROLL CALL Councilmembers Present: Swanson, Pernell, Heinsheimer, Mayor Pro Tem Leeuwenburgh and Mayor Murdock. Councilmembers Absent: None. Others Present: B. Allen Lay, Councilmember Elect. Frank E. Hill, Councilmember Elect. Craig R. Nealis, City Manager. Lola Ungar, Principal Planner. Nan Huang, Senior Accountant. Melinda Schoen, Clerk Typist/Receptionist. Lt. Kathy Taylor, Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department, Lomita Station. Scott Gobble, Southern California Edison Representative. David Delsigne, California Water Service Company Representative. COMMENTS FROM OUTGOING ELECTED OFFICIALS • Councilmember Gordana Swanson thanked the community for the opportunity to serve the City of Rolling Hills since 1976 and highlighted some of the accomplishments of the City Council during her years on the City Council. Councilmember Swanson noted that she feels that the new City Council will do an excellent job for the community. • Mayor Pro Tem Ginny Leeuwenburgh highlighted her 12 years on the Rolling Hills City Council noting that being the City's representative to the Regional Law Committee and her service as Chair of the Traffic Commission have been rewarding experiences for her. She noted how well the Council worked together to accomplish the goals of the City and challenged the new Council to continue to work toward the goals set forth by their predecessors. NEW BUSINESS A. RESOLUTION NO. 734: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS, CALIFORNIA RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION ON APRIL 12, 1994, DECLARING THE RESULT AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW. City Manager Nealis reported that the election was held on April 12, 1994 and that the canvass was complete as noted in the Resolution. Councilmember Heinsheimer moved that the City Council adopt Resolution No. '134 reciting the fact of the General Municipal Election on April 12, 1994, declaring the result and such other matters as provided by law. Councilmember Pernell seconded the motion which carried unanimously. Minutes City Council Meeting 04-19-94 -1- INSTALLATION AND OATH OF OFFICE OF NEWLY ELECTED OFFICIALS City Manager/City Clerk Nealis administered the oath of office to re-elected Mayor Jody Murdock and newly elected Councilmembers B. Allen Lay and Frank E. Hill. COMMENTS FROM NEWLY ELECTED OFFICIALS • Councilmember Frank Hill thanked his supporters and stated that he looks forward to serving the City of Rolling Hills. Councilmember Hill commented that he takes the duties which he has been given seriously and will do the best job he can. • Councilmember Allen Lay stated that he is honored to serve the City of Rolling Hills and paid tribute to Gordana Swanson and Ginny Leeuwenburgh. • Mayor Murdock stated that she is looking forward to serving the community for another four years. She also paid tribute to Gordana Swanson and Ginny Leeuwenburgh. • Councilmember Godfrey Pernell remarked on the accomplishments of Gordana Swanson and Ginny Leeuwenburgh and welcomed Councilmembers Allen Lay and :Frank Hill. • Councilmember Tom Heinsheimer commented that the City had been well served by a positive and low key election. He welcomed newly elected Councilmembers Allen Lay and Frank Hill and commented on the accomplishments of Gordana Swanson and Ginny Leeuwenburgh. OPEN AGENDA APPROXIMATELY 8:00 P.M. PUBLIC COMMENT WELCOME • Dr. James Roberts, President, RHCA, welcomed the newly elected Councilm.embers and bid farewell to Gordana Swanson and Ginny Leeuwenburgh on behalf of the Rolling Hills Community Association. • Mrs. Bea Fisher, 1 Southfield Drive, commended Ginny Leeuwenburgh on her efforts relating to traffic safety within the City of Rolling Hills. MATTERS FROM MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL None. MATTERS FROM MEMBERS OF STAFF None. ADJOURNMENT Hearing no further business before the City Council, Mayor Murdock adjourned the meeting at 7:55 p.m. to the next regularly scheduled meeting of the City Council to be held on Monday, April 25, 1994.
