OCTOBER 8, 2001
CALL TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Rolling Hills was called to order by Mayor
Murdock at 7:35 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 2 Portuguese Bend Road,
Rolling Hills,California.

Councilmembers Present: Hill, Pernell, Mayor Pro Tem Lay and Mayor Murdock.
Councilmembers Absent: Heinsheimer (excused).
Others Present: Craig Nealis, City Manager.

CONSENT CALENDAR
Matters which may be acted upon by the City Council in a single motion. Any
Councilmember may request removal of any item from the Consent Calendar causing
� it to be considered under Council Actions.
a. Minutes - Meeting of September 24, 2001.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve as presented.
b. Payment of Bills.

c. Correspondence from Southern California Gas Company regarding Application
No. 01-09-024 filed with the Public Utilities Commission to revise its rates for gas
service effective January 1, 2003.
RECOMMENDATION: Receive and file.
Councilmember Hill moved that the City Council approve the recommendations in the
Consent Calendar. Mayor Pro Tem Lay seconded the motion which carried unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS
CONSIDERATION OF APPOINTMENT OF CITY REPRESENTATIVE TO TI� WEST
VECTOR CONTROL DISTRICT.
Mayor Murdock reported that she had asked resident Mrs. Loren DeRoy to serve as the City's
representative on the Los Angeles West Vector Control District Board of Trustees and that she
had accepted. City Councilmembers unanimously supported Mayor Murdock's appointment
of Mrs. Loren DeRoy to serve as the City's Representative to the West Vector Control District.
NEW BUSINESS
CONSIDERATION OF AWARD OF BID FOR TRIMMING OF TREES ON THE WEST
AND SOUTH SIDES OF TI� TENNIS COURT NUMBER ONE AND WEST SIDE OF
TENNIS COURT NUMBER THREE AS WELL AS PINE TREES IN TI�GAZEBO AREA.

City Manager Nealis presented the staff report providing background regarding the standard
trimming of certain trees at the tennis courts. Hearing no discussion, Mayor Murdock called
for a motion.
Mayor Pro Tem Lay moved that the City Council authorize staff to execute all documents and
proceed with this trimming and award this project to Travers Tree Service in an amount not to
exceed $1,765.00. Councilmember Pernell seconded the motion which carried unanimously.
CONSIDERATION OF AWARD OF BID FOR COMPUTER EQUIl'MENT.
City Manager Nealis presented the staff report providing background regarding the City's
bidding process for new computer equipment. Discussion ensued regarding the equipment
proposed for purchase. In response to Councilmember Pernell, City Manager Nealis
explained that the new equipment will be faster and better able to handle the increased
software demands. He also explained that the City's emergency operations computer system
and operation of the upcoming LARCIS system that will be better handled by the new
equipment. Councilmember Hill discussed the proposed new monitors. City Manager Nealis
explained the workstations that would receive the new monitors as well as the other computer
equipment.
Hearing no further discussion, Mayor Murdock called for a motion.
Councilmember Pernell moved that the City Council award this bid to PC Connection in an
amount not to exceed $15,215.22 and direct staff to proceed in procuring this equipment.
Councilmember Hill seconded the motion which carried unanimously.
OPEN AGENDA-APPROXIMATELY 8:00 P.M. - PUBLIC COMMENT WELCOME

MATTERS FROM MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
Mayor Pro Tem Lay thanked the City Council and staff for the plant delivered to him in honor
of his birthday. He also reported that his wife utilized the services of the West Vector Control
district when she encountered a yellow jacket nest on their property. He indicated that the
District responded in a very timely fashion and eradicated the nest.

ADJOURNMENT
Hearing no further business before the City Council, Mayor Murdock adjourned the meeting
at 7:48 p.m. to the next regularly scheduled meeting of the City Council to be held on Monday, �
October 22, 2001 in the City Council Chambers, at City Hall, 2 Portuguese Bend Road, Rolling
Hills,California.
