A -RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROLLING HILLS, CALIFORNIA PRO-
TESTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE PLANNING
COMMISSION OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES
IN ZONING CASE NO. 3336-4.
WHEREAS, prior to the incorporation of the City of
Rolling Hills, a representative of the residents of the
area, 'now included within said City, together with residents
of other portions of the unincorporated areas of the Palos
Verdes Peninsula, made and entered into an agreement with
Palos Verdes Properties, a partnership,, Great Lakes Carbon
Corporation, a corporations and Capital Company, a corpora-
tion, a photo copy of which agreement has been submitted in
evidence in Zoning Case No. 3336-4s, wherein the differences
between the residents of the Palos Verdes Peninsula and said
partnership and said corporations with respect to zoning and
future development of the properties of said partnership and
said corporations in the Palos Verdes Peninsula were settled
and a.zoning-plan was developed for submission to the; jPlann-
ing Commission of the County of Los Angeles; and
WHEREAS., in settling said dispute, the rrr
esidents of
the area now incorporated in the City of Rolling Hills,
State of California, gave up certain legal rights and remedies
to which they were entitled in order to effect a comprehensive
zoning plan for the Palos Verdes Peninsula that would best
serve the interests of all the parties to said agreement and
that would make the highest and best use of the land which
was made subject to the terms of said agreement; and
WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles did thereafter, with
the support of the residents of the Palos Verdes.Peninsula,
adopt as the zoning plan for Palos Verdes District No. 112
substantially the plan provided for in said agreement; and
WHEREAS, Zoning Case No. 3336-4 is an application by
a successor in interest to a party to said agreements which
application is an application to reduce lot sizes in a
portion of the land covered by said agreement; and
WHEREAS.. the City Council of the City of Rolling Hills'
as representatives of the residents of said City, desire to
maintain the integrity of the zoning provided for in said
agreement and adopted as the general zoning plan for the
unincorporated area of the peninsula and in -that capacity
are opposed to the reduction of lot sizes provided for in
said'Zoning Case No. 3336-4.
THEREFORE., BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Rolling Hills does hereby express its dis-
approval of the action of the Planning Commission of the
County of'Los Angeles in granting the petition in Zoning
Case No. 3336-4 for the reduction of lot sizes in the area
covered by said petition from a minimum lot size of 15,000
square feet to a minimum lot size of 10,000 square feet.
RESOLVED, that a certified copy of this resolution be
forwarded by the Mayor to each member of the Board of Super-
visors of Los Angeles County and to the Clerk of the Board
of.Supervisors prior to March 14, 1957;"
THAT the Mayor shall sign this resolution and the
City Clerk shall attest and certify to the passage and
adoption thereof. .
