0069RESOLUTION NO. 69 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS APPROVING AND SUPPORTING A PROPOSAL FOR THE FORMATION OF A WATER REPLENISHMENT DISTRICT. WHEREAS, the ground water basins of the Los Angeles Coastal Plain have been seriously depleted by over pumping, re- sulting in an extensive intrusion of ocean water into the fresh water supply of said ground water basins, and WHEREAS, the formation of a water replenishment district has been -proposed by Central Basin Water Association and West Basin Water Association to repel the intrusion of salt water, recharge said ground water basins, reduce the pumping therein to safe limits and otherwise restore and maintain desirable high water levels in said ground water basins, and WHEREAS, the preservation of the underground water storage capacity of- said ground water basins will insure an ade- quate carry-over water supply that would be required in the event of catastrophe caused by nature or by enemy action, and is neces- sary to the health, safety and general welfare of inhabitants therein; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Rolling Hills that the proposal for the formation of a water replenishment district be approved and supported, that com- munities, civic groups and individuals be urged to assist in form- ing said district, and that a certified copy of this Resolution be furnished to Central Basin and to West Basin Water Associations.
