A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY -OF ROLLING HILLS, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING
THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS .AND 'SUPERIOR
COURT JUDGES OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY SELECT
TORRANCE AS THE SITE FOR THE SOUTHWEST SUPERIOR
COURT DISTRICT COURTHOUSE AND TO KEEP THE CITY
OF ROLLING HILLS IN THE SOUTH DISTRICT UNLESS
AND UNTIL SAID COURTHOUSE IS COMPLETED IN
TORRANCE.'
WHEREAS, a committee of Superior Court Judges will
hold a public hearing on April 26, 1961 to make recommendations
for -the location of a new courthouse for the Southwest Superior
Court District; and
I WHEREAS, the Inglewood Civic Center or any other,site
north of Artesia Boulevard is too far removed from the City of
Rolling Hills to serve its inhabitants effectively; and
WHEREAS, the residents of this city would prefer to
remain in the South District rather than travel to Inglewood;
and
WHEREAS, in the event that a new courthouse for the
Southwest District is constructed�in the Torrance Civic Center
and the location of said District is changed to Torrance, it
could be more convenient for Palos Verdes Peninsula residents
to go to court in Torrance.
NOW., THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1.
That it hereby requests the Board,of Supervisors and
the Supe ' rior Court Judges of Los Angeles County to locate the
new courthouse for the Southwest Superior Court District in
the Torrance Civic Center.
Section .2.
That it further requests that the City Qf,Rolling
Hills remain in the South District (Long Beach) unless the
courthouse to serve the Southwest District is constructed in
Torrance and until it is placed in operating.condition.
Section 3.
That in the event such courthouse is so constructed
in Torrance and completed, then the City of Rolling Hills may
at some future date wish to be included in the Southwest Superior
Court District. I

Section 4. '
That copies of this Resolution be sent to the
Board of Supervisors and Superior Court Judges Lloyd Nix,
Ben Koenig and William P. Houghton of Los Angeles County.
