A RESOLUTION -OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ROLLING HILLS, CALIFORNIA, URGING THE
LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO
PASS ASSEMBLY BILL NO.' 19.58
WHEREAS, -there .is. now pending in the .Assembly of
the State of-,California..asseinbly, bill No. 1958 which provides
that money.- paid- -- nto -the State. 'Highway Fund fore the- construc-
tion of state—highways ..shall .be- allocated -on a basis of 40%
to the- northerni.counties .and..60% to the, southern counties
of the State of California;. and
WHEREAS,.fieret6f.arecfhe:"ia°lheeat'ion,_ofhstate U-ighwayia
Funds for the construction of state highways has been
allocated on a basis of 451:to the northern counties and -55%
to the southern counties; and
WHEREAS, by virtue of the rapid growth in population
and the increased automobile traffic in the southern counties
as compared to automobile traffic in the northern counties,
a more equitable division of said State Highway Funds is
mandatory; and
WHEREAS, the aforementioned assembly bill No. 1958
would, in the opinion of the City Council of the City of
Rolling Hills, more equitably allocate and divide State High=
way Funds for the construction of state highways in the State
of California;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
,of the City of Rolling Hills does endorse assembly bill No.
1958 and urges the Assembly to pass said bill at the 1963
session of the Legislature;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of
this Resolution shall be forwarded by the.City Clerk to the
Chairman of the Transportation and Commerce Committee and to
Assemblyman Charles Chapel.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 8th day of
April, 1963.
