RESOLUTION.NO. 199
A RESOLUTION .OF THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS,
CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING "THE LOWER COLORADO
.RIVER'BASIN PROJECT ACT" AS PROPOSED IN
S. 1019 AND H.R. 4671 AND COMPANION BILLS
PENDING IN THE CONGRESS.OF THE UNITED STATES
WHEREAS, the objectives of the Lower Colorado River Basin
Project .Act are to provide a program for further development of the
water resources of the .Lower Colorado River Basin, including additional
water supplies for use in both the Lower and Upper Basins, and
WHEREAS, under terms of the pending legislation the.Secretary
of the Interior is directed to examine current and long range water
supply and demand within the Colorado. River Basin and to search for
basins having a surplus of water from which water could be transported
to supplement the inadequate Colorado River supplies, and
.WHEREAS, the investigation, if so ordered, is to be completed
40 within three years and is to provide for importation of at least 22
million acre feet per year within the framework of a regional plan
a!; under whichfuture projects may be authorized and coordinated to assure,
ample water supplies for the entire Pacific Southwest area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS,
CALIFORNIA, that "the Lower Colorado River Basin Project Act", set forth
in bills now pending in the Congress of the United States, be, and is
hereby, endorsed in principle, and that enactment thereof by the Congress
be, and is hereby, requested, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution
be forwarded to Senators Thomas H. Kuchel and George Murphy and to all
United'States Representatjives from California.
