0236RESOLUTION NO. 236 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS CALIFORNIA, AGAINST THE EXPENDITURE OF PUBLIC FUNDS FOR AN OFFSHORE AIRPORT WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rolling Hills, California has been, requested by the Southern California Association of Governments to endorse a proposal to spend and commit public funds for a study of the air traffic needs of the metropolitan area of Southern California and the feasibility of constructing an offshore airport;`and -• WHEREAS, the°City of Rolling Hills, California i8"located in one of the few remaining secluded residential areas in Southern California, free of smog, traffic and noise; and 1.rJ Rn, ` i WHEREAS,'the City Council of the Citi -of Rolling Hills, California �C is firmly of the opinion that in a well planned metropolitan area it is essential to the welfai°e of the residents of that area to provide and make available to said residents, secluded, noise -free residential dis- tricts for relaxation and -recreation; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rolling Hills, California believes that the construction of an offshore airport, either in the San Pedro Bay or in the ocean in the vicinity of the Palos Verdes Peninsula would be detrimental not only to the residents of the City of. Rolling Hills, but to all residents and owners of residential property on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, NOW, THEREFORE, BE`IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rolling Hi1Is i's unequivocally opposed to the expenditure of..public funds by any public agency for a study as to the feasibility of con- structing an offshore airport in the San Pedro Bay or in the vicinity of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the construction of an airport by any public agency either in the San Pedro Bay or in the vicinity of the Palos Verdes Peninsula is contrary to and against the best interest of the residents -of the City of Rolling Hills, and all other residents on the Palos Verdes Peninsula; and S BE IT FINALLY -RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded by the City Clerk.6f the City of Rolling Hills to the Southern California Association of Governments.
