RESOLUTION NO. 294
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ROLLING'HILLS$ CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE
GOVERNOR, SENATE RULES COMMITTEE AND SPEAKER
OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO
APPOINT DOROTHY LE CONTE AS ONE OF THE SIX
PUBLIC REPRESENTATIVES ON THESOUTH COAST
REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION ESTABLISHED BY
SECTIONS 27.,000 et-seq OF THE PUBLIC RESOURCES
CODE OF.THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
WHEREAS, Section 27,201 of the Public Resources Code provides for
the creation of the South Coast Regional Commission for Los Angeles and
Orange Counties., and the appointment of six representatives of the public
residing in said Counties as members of that Commission, and
WHEREAS, DOROTHY LE CONTE is a resident of the City of Rolling'Hills
in the County of Los Angeles and has been for the past several years the
Co -Chairman of the Save. Our Coastline.(SOC) Committee,.a citizens' group
whose primary purpose.is the preservation of the environment and the
protection of the Coastline of.the Palos Verdes Peninsula; and
WHEREAS, DOROTHY LE CONTE is a member of the Los Angeles County
Beach Advisory Committee; Vice Chairman of the Regional Coastline
Planning Group of the Southern California Association of Governments,
serving as the public representative of Los Angeles County; and
WHEREAS, DOROTHY LE CONTE was recently appointed to the Los Angeles
County Environment Quality Control Committee as a representative of the
Fourth Supervisorial District;. and
WHEREAS, DOROTHY LE CONTE is _a member of the League of Women Voters,
the American Association of University Women, the American Field Service
and Friends of the Peninsula Library; and
WHEREAS, DOROTHY LE CONTE received her formal' education at the
University of California at Berkeley and holds a Bachelor's Degree in
economics from said school, and is the.holder of a Master's Degree in
political science from the University of California at Los Angeles;
and she has been a political science instructor at said University and
a lecturer at California State University at Long Beach; and
WHEREAS, DOROTHY LE CONTE is married to Joseph LeConte, a geologis=t
whose father and grandfather were founders of the Sierra Club; and
WHEREAS, by reason of all the foregoing, DOROTHY LE CONTE is ex-_,
tremely interested in all environmental matters and concerns having -to
do with the use -of land, and is amply qualified and able to represent
the Counties of Log Angeles and Orange on the South Coast Regional
Planning Commission;_
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rolling Hills floes
c request the Governot, the Senate Rules Committee and the Speaker of' the
Assembly of t'tie State of Cal:iM:oz.- .1.a.. 1-c appoint DOROTHY LE CONTE as one
of the six representatives of the to serve as a member of the
South Coast Regional.. Commission.; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution
be forwarded to the Governor of the State of California, the Speaker
of the Assembly,and the Chairmah of the Senate Rules Committee, and
to Assemblyman Robert Beverly and Supervisor James Hayes.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly
adopted by the City Council of the City of Rolling Hills,
California at a regular meeting thereof held on the 11th
day of December, 1972 by the following vote of the Council:
AYES: Councilmen Bear, Heinsheimer, Hesse, Mayor Pearson
