A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROLLING
HILLS RECOGNIZING A PALOS VERDES PENINSULA BICENTENNIAL
COMMISSION
WHEREAS, representatives to the Continental Congress did pass
a unanimous Declaration and by proper execution thereof did proclaim
the United States of America a sovereign and independent nation on
July 4, 1776, and
WHEREAS, the President of the United States of America did
issue a public proclamation proclaiming that a general celebration of
the nation's 200th Anniversary would be conducted from July 4, 1975
through December 31, 1976, and
WHEREAS, the American Revolution Bicentennial Administration
was set up to encourage and stimulate participation by citizens through-
out the nation in the celebration of the nation's 200th Anniversary, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rolling Hills has
V appointed a Bicentennial Committee made up of residents of that city
to plan and coordinate projects and programs of local interest and
value to help recall our national, state and local history, and
WHEREAS, the unique geography and the historical and cultural
development of the Palos Verdes Peninsula have resulted in broad
citizen participation in many peninsula -wide projects.
NO'nP THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a Palos Verdes Peninsula
Bicentennial Commission be formed with representation from the four
cities Bicentennial Committees, other elected entities serving the
Peninsula and all recognized educational, service and cultural
orgilnizations, and
Be it further resolved that the City Council of the City of
Rolling Hills support the Palos Verdes Peninsula Bicentennial Commis-
sion by encouraging the participation of the residents of that city
in projects and programs commemorating the Bicentennial 1975-1976.
