RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROLLING HILLS PROVIDING FOR THE
PREPARATION AND PRINTING OF CAIVDIDAT99'
STATEMENT AND THE 'PAYMENT OF THE COST
THEREOF AS°REQUIRED`BY SECTION 10012:5
WHEREAS the City of Rolling Hills is required by the
Election Code of the S -tate of -Calildrtia to adopt regula.t"io,ns relating
to preparation, printing and mailing of Candidate's' Statement"a.s set
forth in Section 10012:5 of the Election Code; and
WHE;REAS the above numbered Section permits a candidate
to prepare and file a=Candidates Statement of not more than 200 words
with the City Clerk for mailing to the voters in the City of Rolling
Hills along with a sample ballot; and
WHEREAS The above numbered section further provides
for the Clerk to provide a'Spahish translation of such statement�if
requested by the candidates; and
WHEREAS the above numbered section further provides
that the costs -of printing, handling and translating the Candidate's
Statement may be billed on a prorated basis to each candidate using
the services;,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Rolling Hills that each candidate filing nominating papers
for the office of councilperson in the City of Rolling Hills may
prepare and file with the City Clerk a Candidates Statement on an
appropriate form provided by the City Clerk, which statement may
include the name, age and occupation of the candidate -and a brief.
description of no more than 200 words of the candidate's education.
and qualifications as expressed by the candidate, and
BE -IT FURTHER RESOLVED, and the City Council does so
find and declare that there is only one Spanish speaking family
residing within the City of Rolling Hills, which family has a complete
understanding of the reading and writing of the English language and
therefore it is not necessary to translate and print the Candidates
Statement of each candidate in the Spanish language, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Candidate's Statement
be printed, if requested, only in the English language, and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the actual cost of print-
ing and handling the Candidate's Statement shall be billed to and paid
by each candidate using the above described services, which cost
shall not exceed $75.00
