036420 RESOLUTION NO. 364 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS., CALIFORNIA,) IN SUPPORT OF THE TORRANCE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL EXPANSION PROGRAM WHEREAS, Torrance Memorial Hospital has been serving the South Bay Communities in.Health Service Area 931 for more than 50 years; and WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Health Planning Council of Los Angeles County estimates that Health Service Area 931 will be short 309 hospital beds by the year 1981; and WHEREAS, the South Bay cities within Health Service Area 931 have no comprehensive acute rehabilitation center even though there is substantial industrial activity within the service area; and �• WHEREAS, the Torrance Memorial Hospital has the only burn treatment unit in the South Bay area; and U WHEREAS, the orthopedic facilities at Torrance Memorial. V Hospital are often overcrowded; and WHEREAS, the Torrance Memorial Hospital has demonstrated through the years of service to the community that it is a financially sound and well-managed institution; and WHEREAS, the planned expansion. program does not appear to have the effect of increasing health care costs because of the existing and projected demands for its services; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS that the City Council for the City of Rolling Hills, California, hereby supports the Torrance Memorial Hospital in its application to the Comprehensive Planning Council of Los Angeles County for the addition of facilities to accommodate 48 beds for comprehensive acute rehabilitation and 30 beds for orthopedic services.
