RESOLUTION NO. 386
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY. -COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROLLING
HILLS' -URGING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF LOS
ANGELES,TO DESIGNATE FUNDS FOR THE CONTINUED OPERATION BY
THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA RAPID TRANSIT DISTRICT OF PUBLIC
TRANSPORTATION FACILITIES TO SERVE THE PALOS VERDES
PENINSULA AND SOUTH BAY AREAS
WHEREAS, the Southern California Rapid Transit District is now
providing public transportation service for the residents of the Palos
Verdes Peninsula and the South Bay -area, including residents of the' --City
of Rolling Hills; and
WHEREAS, the operation of said transportation service provides
the only means of public transportation for residents and school children
of the Palos Verdes Peninsula and the South Bay areas around the Palos
Verdes Peninsula and to the areas making up the South Bay; and
WHEREAS, the discontinuance of this public transportation
service because of the lack of funds would create inconvenience, hardship
V and ad,ditiotal expense and the waste of energy for numerous residents and
V school children on the Palos Verdes Peninsula*in the South Bay area, who
will be<compelled to use private transportation;
NOW, THEREFORE., BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Rolling
Hills does respectfully request the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles
County to earmark and designate sufficient funds in the budget for the
fiscal year 197778 to enable the Southern California Rapid Transit
istrict to continue the operation.of existing public transportation
outes for the Palos Verdes Peninsula and the South Bay area for the
fiscal year commencing July 1, 1977, and ending June -30, 1978;
BE IT VURTHER'RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Resolution
be forwarded to the Clerk of the Board -of Supervisors and to each member
of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles, State of
California.
Passed, Approved and Adopted this 27th day of June, 1977.
