2023-05-24_Spcl_Newsletter_PressRelease CITY COUNCIL ANNOUNCEMENT On Departure of City Manager Elaine Jeng At the May 22, 2023 meeting, the Rolling Hills City Council announced the departure of City Manager Elaine Jeng, following her appointment as the City Manager of Palos Verdes Estates. The City Council met on the same day to discuss the appointment of an interim City Manager, and the plan to hire the next City Manager. Since joining the City in 2018, Elaine has been an effective partner with the community and City Council in the achievement of their goals. Her public works background helped the Council initiate several capital improvement projects at the City Hall campus, and implement utility undergrounding projects in the community. She was also successful in achieving grant funding to help make these projects a reality. “Elaine is well liked by the City Council and the community. I enjoy working with Elaine. She connected us with outside agencies to bring the much needed funding for projects, and recognition for our community programs,” said Mayor Pat Wilson. Elaine also built strong relationships within the community. She worked very closely with the resident volunteers of the City’s award-winning Block Captain Program, assisting the community with wildfire safety measures and preparation for other natural disasters. “The City has been very fortunate to have had Elaine as part of our team, and we are very appreciative of her contributions,” said Mayor Pro Tem Leah Mirsch. Elaine’s last day at City Hall will be Friday, July 7, 2023. In her remaining time with Rolling Hills, Elaine will assist the City Council with the adoption of the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 budget, and assist with the search for her replacement, among other tasks. “Elaine will be missed in Rolling Hills. I wish Elaine great success at Palos Verdes Estates,” said Mayor Wilson. Mayor Pro Tem Mirsch echoed the same sentiment. “We are sorry to be losing her, and she will be missed by the entire community. We wish her happiness and success in her new position,” said Mayor Pro Tem Mirsch. While the City Council invests the time needed to fill a key vacancy at City Hall, staff will continue to serve the residents of Rolling Hills. Planning and Community Services Director, John Signo, City Clerk/Executive Assistant to the City Manager Christian Horvath, and Associate Planner Stephanie Grant are experienced and eager to help. Thank you for your patience and understanding while the City transitions to new leadership at City Hall. If you should have any questions on the City Manager recruitment, please call Mayor Pat Wilson at (562) 965-4812 or Mayor Pro Tem Leah Mirsch at (310) 541-8641.
