PROTECT YOUR PROPERTY AND PROTECT
YOUR ROLLING HILLS COMMUNITY.
Residents are reminded to maintain the appropriate
clearance between structures and vegetation. The Los
Angeles County Fire Department regulates the first 200
feet from structures in order to establish a fire fighting
defensible space. The City Ordinance requires the
removal of dead trees and plants on the remainder of
your property to help keep our community safe from the
threat of wildfires. Residents may wish to consult with their
gardener, an arborist or tree service to assess trees and
shrubs and for constructive clearance methods that
avoid future erosion. If you have questions about
clearance requirements, please call the Fire Department
at 310-377-1584.

SCE’s VEGETATION MAINTENANCE SERVICE
SCE conducts year-round maintenance service for
clearing vegetation around utility lines on six-month
intervals in the City, as well as responding to calls from
residents. SCE will clear an area 12 feet around power
lines and re-trim later in the year if needed. SCE also
started a tree removal program in which dead or dying
trees are removed if they are a threat to fall onto
electrical facilities. SCE works with a number of experts to
consider the environment and protect habitat when
removing vegetation. Their work is done at no cost to the
customer. For more information or to report an issue with
overgrown vegetation near a power line, contact SCE
Vegetation Management at 1-800-655-4555.
