CHRISTMAS TREE RECYCLING PROGRAM CONTINUES THROUGH JANUARY 13TH To participate, place your tree next to your green waste, with decorations and stands removed. Republic Services will transport it to a facility where it will be used for mulch and compost. Trees with flocking, tinsel, lights and ornaments will NOT be accepted. Please cut trees over six feet in half. Do not place trees in plastic bags. If you have questions, please contact Republic Services Customer Service Department at 1-800-299-4898. UPDATE ON COYOTES The City Council will receive a report and discuss Coyote Management services again at their January 22nd meeting. LA County’s wildlife specialist, Fernando Barrera, recently retired. His replacements are getting familiar with the Peninsula and will be in the area twice a week. Their main responsibility is to educate residents on wildlife so there is a peaceful coexistence. Problems may result if residents “teach” coyotes to be dependent on humans. Coyotes are less likely to dwell on your property if you take the following steps: 1. Keep garbage cans closed and secure; do not leave filled plastic trash bags out at night. 2. Keep small pets and their food indoors (especially overnight) or promptly remove dishes when done. 3. Pick up fallen fruit and cover compost piles. 4. Put away bird feeders at night to avoid attracting rodents and other coyote prey. 5. Clear brush and dense weeds. 6. Secure yards with RHCA approved fencing ROADWAY EASEMENT PARKING REMINDER The City prohibits parking in a roadway between 2am and 4am. Doing so may result in a citation. Additionally, any vehicle parked on a roadway more than 72 hours may be towed. Please be considerate of your neighbors and have guests park on your driveway or in an appropriate area outside the roadway.
