TREE MITE INFESTATION?
A resident requested the City share this information for the
greater community after they recently dealt with a tree
mite infestation in a pine tree. They noticed other trees
elsewhere with the tell-tale sign of trees turning brown. If
you believe a tree might have tree mites, contact a
professional that can spray and eliminate the problem.
FREE SMOKE ALARMS IN LA COUNTY
The American Red Cross in association with State Farm
and FEMA is installing FREE smoke alarms. You can request
an installation today by visiting redcross.org/Lahomefire

UPDATE ON COYOTES
The City Council will receive a report and discuss Coyote
Management services again at their January 22nd
meeting. LA County’s wildlife specialist, Fernando Barrera,
recently retired. His replacements are getting familiar with
the Peninsula and will be in the area twice a week. Their
main responsibility is to educate residents on wildlife so
there is a peaceful coexistence. Problems may result if
residents “teach ” coyotes to be dependent on humans.
Coyotes are less likely to dwell on your property if you take
the following steps:
1. Keep garbage cans closed and secure; do not leave
filled plastic trash bags out at night.
2. Keep small pets and their food indoors (especially
overnight) or promptly remove dishes when done.
3. Pick up fallen fruit and cover compost piles.
4. Put away bird feeders at night to avoid attracting
rodents and other coyote prey.
5. Clear brush and dense weeds.
6. Secure yards with RHCA approved fencing
ROADWAY EASEMENT PARKING REMINDER
The City prohibits parking in a roadway
between 2am and 4am. Doing so may
result in a citation. Additionally, any
vehicle parked on a roadway more than
72 hours may be towed. Please be
considerate of your neighbors and have
guests park on your driveway or in an
appropriate area outside the roadway.
REPUBLIC MOTHER TRUCK UPDATE
Please Note: the City is currently working with Republic
Services to explore additional Mother Truck staging
locations, some approved for use since 2010 as well as
new additional sites, throughout the community.
Residents may notice this and we ask for your patience
and understanding while we try to find solutions that will
improve services and quality of life for all. If you are
experiencing issues with daily service, please contact
Operations Supervisor Miguel Ruiz on his cell via text
message at 310-308-0354 or via email at
Mruiz3@republicservices.com. If you have questions
about the once-a-year free roll-off bin or other trash
related concerns, please send an email to:
rollinghills@republicservices.com
