REPUBLIC SPRING CLEAN-UP EVENTS
• Green Waste Brush Clearance: Wed., March 6, 2024
Larger quantities of green waste will be collected near
the roadside instead of at your typical designated
collection location. Place the green waste in an area that
is clearly visible to our drivers. Green waste must be
bundled no more than 4 feet in length. No container, bag
or bundle should weigh more than 60 pounds.
• Bulky Item Collection: Wed., March 13, 2024
Bulk items, such as furniture, appliances and rolled rugs,
will be picked up from your designated collection
location. Please place items in an area that is easily visible
to our drivers. Set out items the night before collection or
by 6 a.m. on the collection day.
• Shred and E-waste: Sat., March 23, 2024
Between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., drop off confidential
documents for secure shredding and electronic waste,
such as computers, televisions, smartphones and similar
items, for recycling at City Hall.
REPUBLIC SERVICES UPDATES
Republic Services has a new Operations Supervisor to
continue working on recent issues. Please welcome

CREST ROAD EAST AND EASTFIELD DRIVE
UTILITY UNDERGROUNDING GRANT UPDATES
The City recently received one-year grant extensions to
help ensure both projects can move forward and
towards completion.
Crest Road East will be entering the construction phase
this Spring with removal of overhead wires following once
completed.
Eastfield Drive is currently in the preliminary design phase
with final designs from SCE expected in the Spring. Some
properties may require easements from SCE and if so
early notifications were recently mailed. City Staff meets
with the Utility companies monthly to ensure both projects
and coordination between all involved continues to
meet the grant timelines.

LA COUNTY FIRE ANNUAL DEFENSIBLE SPACE
CLEARANCE NOTICES & REFEREE HEARING
On January 9, 2024 the LA County Board of Supervisors
passed a resolution declaring that hazardous brush, dry
grass, weeds, combustible growth or flammable
vegetation to include native and ornamental vegetation
where growing upon or in front of said improved property
as specifically described by the parcel number in the
resolution, to be a potential fire hazard or nuisance which,
upon inspection by the County of Los Angeles Fire
Department is verified to be an existing hazard or
nuisance and violation of the County Fire Code
pertaining to clearance of brush and vegetation growth,
must be removed and the nuisance abated by the
Agricultural Commissioner and the cost of removal
assessed upon the land. In addition, the Board of
Supervisors authorized and directed the County of Los
Angeles Fire Department and the Agricultural
Commissioner to recover their costs related to the
enforcement of the Fire Code. All property owners having
objection to the removal of brush, dry grass, weeds,
combustible growth, or flammable vegetation, including
natives and ornamentals, are hereby notified that they
may attend one of five brush clearance referee hearings.
The Referee Hearing is for a property owner to contest
that the above parcel is within the High or Very High Fire
Hazard Severity Zone, or the local fire station has
determined increased fire risk and should be inspected.
Residents can attend the nearest location event held on
February 28, 2024 from 5pm to 8pm in Rancho Palos
Verdes at the Palos Verdes Art Center – 5504 Crestridge
Road.
FIRST BLOCK CAPTAINS MEETING IN 2024
10AM, THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2024
Block Captains meet four times a year, on the third
Thursdays of February, May, August and November.
Meetings are held in the City Council Chambers. The
meetings are streamed live on the City’s website.
www.rolling-hills.org Block Captain Leads - Marian Visco,
Debra Shrader, and Marita Geraghty will continue
leading the program this year. Many neighborhoods are
without a Block Captain, so consider joining and
becoming an important part of the community.
RHCA BOARD ELECTION RESULTS
The RHCA held an election for two seats on the RHCA
Board on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. There were four
candidates for two open seats. A total of 291 ballots were
received in person or by proxy. Two registration envelopes
were not signed and could not be counted. The votes
were as follows:
Ty Bobit – 224 Richard Colyear - 43
Roger Hawkins – 104 Annie Occhipinti - 177
Ty Bobit & Annie Occhipinti were elected to the open
seats and will each serve 3 year terms. Collection of the
ballots and tabulation of votes was done by an
independent third party,
