MINUTES OF THE
ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS, CALIFORNIA
April 21, 1964
An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Rolling Hills was called to order by Mayor Pro -Tempore
Goodman at 7:00 P.M., on Tu4sday, April 21, 1964, in the City Hall.

CAN VASS OF ELECTION RETURNS
The City Clerk presented to the Council the copy of
the Result of the Votes Cast at the General Municipal Election
held in the City of Rolling Hills on the 14th day of April,
19.64 in Precincts 1 and 2, which were certified by the Election
Board, and the Result of the Absentee Votes.Cast, which were
certified by the Canvass Board. The Mayor pro tempore then
announced that the following persons were elected as Councilmen
for a four year term:
Fred I. Tourtelot
Vernon M. Fay
RESOLUTION NO. 178
Thereafter, on motion made by Councilman Van Note
and seconded_by Councilman O'Flaherty, Resolution No. 178
entitled "A"Resolution of the City Council of.the City of
Rolling Hills, in the County of Los Angeles, State of California,
Declaring the Result of the General Election Held on Tuesday,
the 14th day of April, 1964, in Said City" was adopted by the
following vote:
AYES: Councilmen O'Flaherty, Tourtelot, Van Note and
Mayor pro -tempore Goodman
NOES• None
ABSENT: None
Resolution No. 178 is set forth in full in the Book
of Resolutions.
ADMINISTRATION OF OATHS OF OFFICE
The City Clerk administered the oaths of office to
April 21, 1964
Councilmen -elect Fred I. Tourtelot and Vernon M. Fay, as
prescribed by the Constitution of the State of California,
delivered to them their certificates of election, and they,
thereafter, took their places at the Council table.
EXPRESSION OF APPRECIATION FROM RETIRING COUNCILMAN O'FLAHERTY
Councilman O'Flaherty expressed his admiration for
the Council and his pleasure in having served with them, and
wished them the very best of success.
ORGANIZATION OF COUNCIL
Councilman Van Note was nominated for Mayor by
Councilman Tourtelot. There being no further nominations,. -
it was moved by Councilman O'Flaherty and seconded by Coun-
cilman Fay that the Clerk be instructed to cast a unanimous
ballot in favor of Councilman Van Note for Mayor. The motion
was unanimously carried. Thereafter, the City Clerk was in-
structed to cast a unanimous ballot in favor of Councilman
Van Note for Mayor.
Councilman Goodman was nominated for Mayor pro
tempore by Councilman Tourtelot. There being no further nomi-
nations, it was moved by Councilman O'Flaherty and seconded by
Mayor Van Note that the City Clerk be instructed to cast a
unanimous ballot for Councilman Goodman. The motion was unani-
mously carried. Thereafter, the City Clerk was instructed to
cast a unanimous ballot in favor of Owen F. Goodman for'Mayor
pro tempore.
EXPRESSION OF APPRECIATION FOR WORK OF RETIRING COUNCILMEN
Councilman Van Note sincerely thanked retiring Coun-
cilman.O'Flaherty for his fine services to the City as Councilman
and past Mayor of Rolling Hills.
It was moved by Councilman Goodman, seconded by
Councilman Fay, and unanimously carried that Mr. Kinley be
directed to prepare an appropriate Resolution of Appreciation
for Services Rendered to the City by Councilman O'Flaherty.
Mayor Van Note thanked the Council for selecting him as Mayor
and assured them he would serve the City to the very best of his
ability.
MEETING. RECESSED
It was moved by Councilman Goodman that in view of
the present vacancy on the Council due to the death of Mayor
Roland L. Amberg that the Council recess to an executive session.
The motion was seconded by Councilman Tourtelot and unanimously
carried to recess the meeting at 9:00 P.M. to an executive session.
At 10:00 P.M Mayor Van Note recessed the executive session to re-
convene on Apri1:-27, .-1964 at 7:301'_P.M.
